14:40 as a type one diabetic, it’s my time to shine! Yes, while I was in the hospital during my diagnosis, nurses would check your blood sugar at least once in the middle of the night. Some would wake you first, others wouldn’t. It’s not that invasive and most diabetics are used to the finger stick and don’t mind it. Shout out to diabetes!😎

The extra physical activity during camp can also lead to blood sugar dips during the night. I used to set an alarm at 3.30am to check mine if I was at camp.

Here's to my fellow Diabetes Buddies! I was so lucky to get my Type 1 in my 20s. But, thanks to a former insurance issue, ended up with DKA...like coma & ER docs were extremely & happily surprised I wasn't in a vegetative state or worse once I woke up. Yup, as a night owl, the 2am-ish finger pokes weren't so bad, it was the 6/7am-ish pokes that sucked. Also that their food delivery service & most everything else is based on morning people. Plus side, my hubby okayed with the doc to get me food from elsewhere as long as he got a carb count print off for it. I hope none of you ever have to go through that!

I'm confused. Stephen Lim was Jared Leto's joker and responded to them on set in real time, yet he also played the Riddler in an obviously pre-recorded session that also responded to them in real time. 🤯 We need a Mystery Files dedicated to their genius.

If I had to guess, Ryan and Shane were first given the riddle on the set and improvised a conversation as if they were getting a phone call, then Steven recorded video of himself as the Riddler afterwards and the footage was spliced together

i'm a t1 diabetic who also went to diabetes camp as a kid (basically it's a normal week-long overnight camp, but parents don't have to freak out about it because all the kids are diabetic and there are like two nurses per cabin to make sure everyone's safe, and also we would get awards for learning/trying new things re: taking care of our diabetes), and for some reason i was like... wait. did i write that story? but then i remembered our cabins were named after flowers and also i never experienced anything remotely paranormal in the 6 years i went there lol also idk why but i went through all of these comments to find and reply to every other comment re: diabetes. so cringe of me. my apologies!

So diabetes camp is a very real thing! It's basically like regular camp but they teach children with diabetes about how to manage it and all that jazz. Because contrary to popular belief.... diabetes doesn't just magically manifest itself in fat people and is largely genetically passed on. Which means lots of people straight up got it from their parents and it affects them as a child. I had a few classmates with it growing up and at one point someone stole a girl's sugar monitor and her emergency money for snacks and we were all panicking because she was the one who had to keep a super close eye on her symptoms. Like she would warn people about her getting dizzy or disoriented and stuff so we would respond properly and get her help asap. And she knew that.... because she went to a diabetic camp for kids. It's a good way to prepare them for the reality of the condition they have so they fully understand that they CANNOT do the same things other kids do diet wise. I think it's pretty cool tbh We should probably implement that kind of thing for adults too tbh

In diabetes camp you be chosen to be woken up when they check your blood sugar if you would like but the ridiculously bright light on their headlamp usually does the trick. Though most people have continuous glucose monitors.

Goodnight Mr. Wayne recipe: 2oz rye .5oz chartreuse .5oz sweet vermouth .25oz fernet branca Put contents into cup, add ice and stir. Then strain into martini glass. Garnish with roasted marshmallows.

Diabetic here that used to go to diabeetus camp as a kid. I was the only one who woke up for the finger sticks. They tried to do it so the kids wouldn't wake up, but there were a few light sleepers like me. The fun one was when they couldn't get to the kids' fingers, they'd go for a toe instead,
