I feel like the Watcher was someone in the neighborhood who probably had a grudge against Maria. Maria grew up in this neighborhood, left, and wanted to come back. The Broaddus's were clearly targeted, and the fact that the person got so upset after the Broaddus's sent letters back to the neighborhood shows a deep personal investment and grudge. It's just so petty and sad. I wish the Broaddus's would've stayed in the neighborhood and just protect themselves. Once this story became viral, it's pretty clear in my opinion that whoever the stalker is has far more to lose than the Broaddus's if the truth plays out.

Since moving to Korea, I heard of two unsolved cases that have really captured my interest. One is the Frog Boys in 1991 5 boys went frog hunting in the mountains and never came home. In 2002 their bodies were found in the previously heavily searched mountainside and the statute of limitations for their murder has since run out in 2006. A lot of other suspicious things too. The other one is the Hwaseong serial murders. Outside Seoul took place between 86-91. There are 10 deaths associated with the case, and some evidence, but has never been solved.

@@emilyb.8219 There isn't one in the U.S., and according to Wikipedia (not the most reliable source I know but I was too lazy to look further) there is no longer one in South Korea as of 2015. Don't know why it was different before, it seems wrong to put a statute of limitations on murder at all. What do you even say to the victims' families then? Like, "We know exactly who killed your loved one but because it took too long to figure out we can't do anything about it. Sorry". That just seems fucked up. Imo, if someone is killed the person who did it deserves to be punished no matter how long it's been.

For those interested, my family has lived is Westfield for years. It’s a very safe and wealthy suburban town, but there are alot of old-Victorian style homes that have been occupied for years some of which were passed down and are now home to elder recluses who dislike the “yuppy” types moving into town. Developers try and purchase this Victorian era homes to build more modern houses but these lifers refuse to sell. We are friends with many in the town government and the police chief has said they believe it was one of these old reclusive residents, probably living in a family home, who decided to mess with the new home owners.

I mean anyone that is not in their shoe or have been heavily stalked in their life cannot understand stress the family was going through. Totally insane stuff. I'm glad they have moved on now and settled elsewhere. The new Netflix TV series based on this is being premiered too

#PostMortem Maybe The Watcher didn't leave letters to The Woods because they didn't have "young bloods" / children. He mentions the youngbloods in all those letters so The Watcher probably only watches children. #ShaniacInTheStreets

I was thinking that too. I was also thinking it could be one of those creepy neighborhoods that dont like a lot of children cuz of noise and so they could have sent those letters to scare away a family with a descent amount of kids.

Ryan, I'm so with you. That's literally my worst fear. Plus, whenever I walk downstairs at night to get food or whatever, I have to walk past a bunch of windows and i always look out them to make sure nothing is looking back at me.

@blacklez5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the watcher said we and he said he had minions
@ParadoxGavel5 жыл бұрын
Especially since the town was on the safest neighborhoods list. The town had an image to keep up, and they'd apparently done enough digging on the family to know their past homes and how much they sold for. I could see it being some tight knit neighborhood that wants to keep "undesirables" out, to keep reputation and property values high.

There is a game called the Watcher, and in the game you act as a ‘landlord’ who secretly puts cameras in the apartments and watches the tenants. Can’t believe no one ever noted that!!! I find it reallly likely that’s what the girlfriend was talking about
