Man, I’ve always loved the way these look fixed up!!! My father had two of them when I was growing up on the junkyard, which was always an adventure ! I got to drive one of these down the road following behind my dad as he was pulling some heavy equipment with another truck, and I followed behind him in one of these at nine years old!!! (he started ME driving at age 3 in case anybody’s worried, and even with that being the case, I was still nervous about driving on the road, because when you are a kid, and you’re sitting in the driver seat, the front end of the vehicle looks like it’s wider than the entire road!!!)

I don’t remember the year model, but my brother had a Blazer and it was on 44’s, he pulled a county dump truck with a snow plow blade stuck behind a parking barrier out of that situation! His front end was working!!! That dump truck was easily 4X+ the weight of my brother’s Blazer and he didn’t know that the snow plow was stuck on the other side of the parking barrier(the hydraulic system had failed and the operator couldn’t lift the blade)!!!

Dude that sounds awesome 👍👍.. looks killer too!! Man do I wish I had my old Blazer!! I kicked myself when I sold it.. one of the best trucks I ever had.. had a nice lift and tires, got the transmission and T-case bulletproofed, 3200rpm TCI stall converter, and a 2pc rear main seal small block punched to a 383 stroker with a nice Comp Cam… I got excellent money for it, but I had so much fun in it.. I took that truck everywhere and through everything.. never left me stuck or stranded.. winters were soo fun! Spring and summers were just awesome too.. Man, I wish I never sold that!!!! Shit … I don’t think I could even find a solid body and frame now, today… Plus it would cost almost double to build or buy anything close to what I had… I will live through you vicariously sir.. take a few bong rips , grab some to-go , and go hit the woods and explore the logging roads, forest fire roads, or even bushwhack if the terrain is correct lol.. sorry for the long post, but the sound of the engine and watching you roast those 44in tires really brought back my truck to me lol.. My K5 was very different. I blew up 3 automatics in the 1st year, trying to tow heavy loads. Traded for a 1 ton suburban with tow package. SM 465 with NP 205 transfer case, Government 14 bolt full floater rear end and Dana 60 front end with a trac lock. Lincoln welder the rear end and never stuck the truck. Dang I miss it!

Funny I did this with my 5 speed Escort Gt 87. Pulled right out after my buddy lost his rear end off his old Chevy. I would say if he had this truck might have pulled out easier then using an Escort.

My friend in Dallas had an older one all lifted like that. One nite I almost rear ended a cop who was sitting at a light. I braked and swerved and kind of drifted accidentally where i was in front of him and I just kept going through the red light and sharply turned left onto the highway entrance ramp. He pulled me over and we found out his taillights were both out. He let me go. That lifted truck was actually pretty stable and had a low center of gravity. Fun to drive in a state where pretty much everyone drives two wheel drives.

Amazing. A friend of had a K5 with too big tires which killed its rear diff while backing into a parking lot, after 2 gearbox and 1 driveshaft restaurations. 1 year with this car was really enough.

Hey, I had one of these run up onto the rear end of my mom's 1987 Audi 5000S diesel back in the 90s in Allentown, PA to the point where his front tires broke the rear windshield (where I was sitting) and the rear bumper was pushed in so far that it pinned the rear doors shut. We were at a stop sign waiting to pull onto the main street near Dorney Park.
