Ryan Clark instigated the whole thing with his comments and failed to protect their relationship. They intentionally used that clip to promote the episode knowing exactly what would happen and then RC came to gaslight the public. The hosts’ reactions and comments during the whole interview added to the outrage. Even after the viral clip, Ryan Clark kept bringing it back up and tried to prompt Jonathan to say something nice about his wife. All three of those men sat up there and laughed at the man, not with him. They set him up to be ridiculed by the public and they owe him an apology. I actually feel sorry for the couple because The Pivot should have never released that unfavorable clip in the first place.

During the interview Ryan baited Jonathan into this mess. Ryan didn’t do him any favors in that line of questioning and Jonathan walked unwittingly right into it. Surely Jonathan has answered this question before, he should have been better prepared so he could walk away without making himself look so foolish. I remember putting my foot in my mouth when I was his age - who hasn’t. Just being at the celebrity level there’s no room for errors of this kind. Simone is definitely being a supportive wife to him which speaks a lot of her strong character.

This young man should be raising Simone up. The fact that so many young Black men don't think he should be elevating, praising and promoting his very exceptional wife, is an indication of rampant Black misogyny, which is common among many young Black men. A husband's job is to cherish his wife, and never embarrass or elevate himself at her expense, nor make her second to anyone, including himself. A man is supposed to be a protective cover for his wife. They are supposed to be one. She is his other half, not his competition. He should have never told that story. Thank you for sharing these positive comments, it’s refreshing. I am a Media and Cultural studies and Sociology graduate amongst other things, and it’s shocking how some of these small minded black people in America are behaving with colonised mindsets. The interviewers on the show were so disrespectful and the guests, due to no fault of their own, got pulled into this derogatory part of this interview. The couple are young and from excellent backgrounds and we have grown men, trying to pollute them, and mislead the husband to act out of character, (whilst his wife is present as well); due to trickery with language, setting a tone, framing and isolating words; for the primary intention of shaming the union and Simone; and upholding the white supremacy belief system, that she is not desirable or beautiful enough for this black man with light coloured eyes. Throughout the interview, the interviewers keep referring to Simone’s husbands features and even one of them, was trying to create solidarity with him, based on his belief that the husband has similar skin colour to him; pushing the idea that they have this shared advantage in life ( the interviewer referred to them as being fine red dimes). The black family is apparently in danger in America, and this is how so called black men (interviewers), are choosing to portray this young black couple. This is absolutely absurd and concerning and totally harmful to this young union. Black couples; be mindful of jealousy and hatred perpetuated in jest, by ignorant people who can also be a person of colour externally. They will project these primitive beliefs consciously and unconsciously, in small talk, pushing white suprematist belief systems onto impressionable people idly watching. Done in ignorance, due to the inferiority complex held by those individuals, around standards of beauty, the power of melanin and the absents of any spiritual understanding of unions; a limited understanding of life, the misconception that everything and everyone, operates and is governed only by, physical external factors, removed from one’s inner self. It is also shocking, that these interviewers have no respect or care in the management of their tongue. This couple are young and their innocence and lack of knowledge in relation to the power of words and manipulation, has been taken advantage of during this interview. One of the interviewers kept going on about Simone’s husband being pretty, etc and trying to project particular negative characteristics/behaviours onto him. To Simone and her husband, thank you for solidifying your relationship/union and please understand that not everybody will be happy for the both of you. Some men and woman will be waiting in the wings to tell your husband who he should find attractive, more desirable, based on the limited perspective, of crabs in a bucket. They will impose certain negative behaviours and laugh to cover up their amazement that someone who they consider to be like them, could operate outside of their ‘normal ‘, as they don’t like people who challenge societal norms, even when the norms are based on a colonial system being upheld by the white supremacy belief system. What is embarrassing also…is that people who are not black, can see this behaviour from a mile away and are deeply ashamed that some black people (especially black men) are behaving in this manner towards the very women they should naturally be respecting and protecting. However, like the buffoons they were once described as, they are still tap dancing for them, and to their story line, dance a little faster boy, yes sir, I’ll do it for you”. “Do not share your pearls before swines” (quote). These kind of interviews are not suited for this couple because of the hidden agendas here. There is a danger that people of colour/black people, like these interviewers, are unconsciously or consciously playing a hand in damaging this couples dignity, self respect, and public reputation, and Simone’s legacy; as the greatest gymnast of all time. Simone has already had to manage so much racism in this sport, overcome this, to be a national treasure. These absent minded bafoons, are devaluing everything this couple silently represent, especially for young black adults, due to their immaturity, ignorance and behaviour; they celebrate everything and anything other than, the stability of the black family. To Simone and her husband, guard your relationship carefully, have an expert on your team to filter what you say and what plate forms you agree to support and come on. You are both in the public eye and if you want to protect your image/s, how you speak, and what is disclosed needs to be managed with a professional team. Your team will support you in your delivery. People like to shame black people, so please choose very carefully which platforms are respectful; as Simone can go from national treasure, to national trash over night, if her PR team do not step up quickly, and shut this whole thing down. Step back and select the class of the platform carefully and take professional lessons on, how to redirect conversations/how to assert yourselves politely and with authority, during interviews, and public engagements / how to stay focused and not laugh, in order to fill in awkward gaps, learn to process/analyse information/language so any laughing is not potentially damaging harmful to oneself, how to politely communicate in order for someone who is being perverse, or disrespectful to back off during a televised interview, how to not answer a question without drawing attention to not answering that question and reword that question back to the interviewer in order support your agenda and derail interviewers tactics, how not to recklessly blurt out answers/ideas without attention to the question and the impact of the act of blurting out without considerable thinking, how to ensure you are respected during an interview from the onset, setting the tone of the interview to get the results that you want, how to naturally return to a question that has been asked previously but was insufficient, not answered diligently or as intended, so self-correction can be professionally undertaken. The support from skilled professionals will prepare this young couple next time, so an interview will give them the results they want, and be empowering for them. In media, most responses should be rehearsed so they sound very natural and checked over by PR experts beforehand. No blurting out responses as this is indicative to the interviewer that the guest can be easily manipulated into giving answers without thinking in real time and analysing the implications of the questions and impact to self. This is a young, innocent couple, and I hope their team steps up. This couple need expert branding and a good Pr team/ cultural/language expert, mentors and people who are able to give them a lot of support and love to ensure that what this young couple are building is protected and growth continues. We must remember that not everybody we encounter wants other people, to have that happy ending in life, like Cinderella. Well done to this beautiful couple and take care of each other.

I read the whole thing. I can't help it. I'm an English teacher. This destructive dynamic can truly be summed up under the light skin - dark skin. The aunt of my ex-boyfriend told him that she should not marry me because our kids will come out dark, and you generally want light skin kids. Thank God he dropped. The irony is he is dark and the woman he married is light, and their kid is dark! Interesting. On the other side, choosing the right platform is important. The platform with Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder has already had some controversy with Channing calling Russell Wilson names, etc. I wouldn't have gone on that platform just out of fear that Channing would say something stupid. However, this time it was Ryan. Interesting. Great comment. This would go great in a case book for how to handle PR or social perception, etc.

I have been saying the same exact things only you said it 1000 times better! 🎯 And I read every bit of it. I 1000% agree. The interviewers, especially Ryan Clark laced and lead this conversation with all kinds of negative suggestions and questions. He put words in Jonathan's mouth and twisted everything to devalue him and his wife and their union. I was disgusted. I also noticed them mentioning him being light skinned, which also alerted me to them being low level haters I saw another dark skinned black man's KZbin video on this clip and he seemed to tear them down as well. He made it seem as though Simone being dark skinned probably didn't have many options so that is why she "chased" him. He has mentioned dark skinned enough for me (even tho he is himself) for me to think he likes playing with colorism amongst women, but he seems to have a colorist issue with light skinned men. He called her husband weak and insecure just for admitting his past issues, which he was asked about in the first place. That was very vulnerable and honest of him He mentioned that Simone had a history of dating light skinned men as if it was a problem. 🤔 What a lot of people don't know is that many light skinned, biracial and wyt men pursue dark skinned women. All of them aren't out here acting like Chris Brown However, the skin color ish shouldn't have been an issue and this relationship has bought the colorism out that men have for other men as well I don't believe people are this outraged by him not knowing her and saying he's a catch. I believe a lot of women are angry because she's a pretty dark skinned woman who took a good looking successful black man of the market. There are so many comments from delusional women who keep saying she's not his type or that he's not attracted to her. They are sick with misery and jealous, because they feel entitled to a black man such as himself over dark skinned women. They will continue to ignore the positives he's said on the interview and all of the positive things he has said and done since meeting to marrying her, because it will make them feel secure about themselves to ignore the positive and run with their own narrative People need to also question why black men are getting too comfortable insulting and disrespecting another man's wife when she's black🧐. I think Ryan owes them a public apology. He's acting like it is just the people tripping, but he lead the whole witch hunt I wish the best to Simone and Jonathan. Their light irritated all the demons😂. May they remain unbothered and locked in for life✨✨✨

👏🏾Exceptional follow up from the interviewer. & yes, Johnathan meant what he said. He was being honest & unwittingly honest about his global awareness/exposure and limitations (no shade I swear). Currently he is expanding. & expanding will create a desire to grow outside of football where he is obviously a subject matter expert because so few achieve an opportunity to play @ the NFL level. My comment can be read w/ giggles & even meanness that is not intended. Simone can be likened to classical music that permeates the masses... many iconic chords (her name) are easily recognizable by the masses…exposed masses. But how many of us can discuss classical pieces vs classical movements much less holding a conversation about the Eras of Classical Music WITHOUT GOOGLE . Mozart’s & Bach’s catchy tunes are common limits for the masses due to public domain more than exposure. And many of us couldn’t identify either composer’s era or anything else…of course my example is not about the con osiers or students of classical music but about the masses who can tape to a tune (not name that classical tune!) & appear to enjoy themselves at the symphony. This young man gave the PRETENDERS among us an opportunity to gasp at what he doesn’t know/hasn’t been exposed to as we stare at a screen & judge. I’m sooo long winded! U do not know, what u do not know until u know it!! I pray this couple grows together while they weather made up ⛈.

And I'm saying this in no way whatsoever trying to diminish or minimize her accomplishments because I'm sure that she's great at what she does and in the upper class of or maybe the best ever at what she does arguably! All in all, she's a very beautiful sister and she's got a great smile and personality and seems to be married to a great man as well and I'm happy for the both of them. 💯🙏🏾👍🏾

Some of us didn’t know who he was but we minded our business and didn’t say anything in support for their relationship even liking his ass more when he cried at their wedding but yeah ego is a problem thing and can’t be hidden away by some people.

Her husband talks as if she isn’t even there. He doesn’t see her point, blank, period. He doesn’t smile at her or see her as beautiful. He’s full of shit.

a whole bunch of people have a lot to say even though there's no man commited to them for life... and there's no woman anywhere near this deep in love with them.

I mean simone biles is big to some. Let us not forget that America defamed her for quitting the olympics. For those of you that dont know, we as a country shitted on this young woman for quitting the olympics to get her head together. America called her quitter, said she should have never joined the olympic team because so some other kid could've got on, etc etc.

Some call Travis Taylor boyfriend and he is fine with that. Insecure salty jealous project their insecurities onto others. Many don't even know about Simones's background. These two seem to have more in common sharing similar values than many know. Blessings to them. Haters gonna hate Good on Ryan for setting the record straight quite magnanimous

Man these 🤡’s trolling her husband. How people gone say this man lying….not everybody follow the Olympics or know every star. I ain’t mad at a brotha standing confidently in his manhood and leadership of his family and knowing his worth. He didn’t in any way disrespect his beautiful wife and spoke of her star power when they are out in public. People need to get a life and stop trying to drum up mess!!

He is not a good leader. I see all the time how men claim to be leaders but have no clue how to actually be one. A leader would praise and encourage his wife. He didn’t show good leadership skills in this interview.

Nah. A lot of us watched the entire interview. He's the only athlete that I've ever heard of in history that didn't see Simone Biles on ESPN Sportscenter.

@@19sexiiblack We all heard his explanation. Including the guys doing the interview. Nobody buys that an athlete, especially a college footballer, had never seen Simone Biles on ESPN's Sportscenter. Everyone involved in sports knows who she is.

The question was phrased as “ so you are the catch in this relationship, not her”. A respecting husband would have stopped that interviewer right then and there. Like sir we are not laughing at the expense of my wife. He went out of his way to make it known she wasn’t his type and he wasn’t really interested (until he saw the follower count of course) if you don’t see how embarrassing that is then you are just being intentionally ignorant. Ryan was side eying him and giggling. You changing your tune now because of the backlash.

I watched the whole thing, and I still take issue with how his ego took over during that segment. He offered her no protection, but if she’s ok with it, then so be it.
