For some reason I always thought he was overrated but then I watched all his movies from The Notebook to Half Nelson to Drive to Nice guys I must say I was amazed by his versatility. He’s truly an amazing actor and he’s now one of my favourites hahaa.

I didn't think he was overrated because I hadn't really watched anything from him until I happened to catch Blue Valentine on tv and I was impressed by his acting there. I did almost the same thing and watched 90% of his movies this year. Yes, he is very versatile. What I think might be underappreciated about him is his talent/timing for comedy.

I remember seeing him on Friday Night Lights when he was still an extra and IIRC had NO lines in the movie, unless you count like a scene where the team is getting pumped up and chanting. It took him getting famous after the fact and me watching that movie again later years down the line to be like "HOLY SHIT, is that Ryan Gosling?" it's almost similar to the way I felt when I was re-watching the Chappelle's Show and noticing a now world famous Bill Burr in some of the skits like "How did I not know this was Bill Burr before?" Well, he wasn't famous yet, that's why most likely.

I look pretty much exactly like this guy, especially at 0:15, 0:48 and 0:52. Women started 'digging on me' all of a sudden around 10 years ago, it never happened before that. I went into a mall one day and chicks jaws were dropping like crazy, even today it's still like that. When 'Drive' came out I finally realized who he was and why women were 'digging on me', it's because I look like him. Apologies for the conceited post but it was around the end of 2004 and start of 2005 when things changed, that's also around the time when "The Notebook" came out. Thank god he became famous. ...pretty sure I have a functionable form of autism though. He made being super quiet and weird cool, lol.
