Those devices that Greg is referring to were often called "radio links". The teacher would wear a microphone and transmitter, and the pupil would wear a receiver. This meant the hearing impaired kid could hear the teacher much more clearly. I often experienced things like the teachers going to the toilet, talking to staff members, etc. If you could recognise the squeak of the doors that the teacher was going through, you could warn the other kids in the classroom (who were messing around while the teacher was away) that the teacher was coming, and everyone would be sitting quietly like little angels when the teacher came back into the classroom. :)

Alexander Anderstaf if you can watch the whole episode, Ryan Gosling tells a story earlier about his pet doing the same thing. So that's why this clip is even more hilarious.

Leave it to Graham Norton to have the local flavor guest tell the funniest story during an evening of big Hollywood guests. Davies is brilliant. Graham is even more so. Love this show.

@2:30 the best, and sweetest most genuine thing about this is Greg rubbing his legs at the end of that. He knows who he's sharing a seat with, and even though he's made Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling genuinely crack up with laughter, he's still nervous and conscious about it. It's like, how could you not be. You see these interactions a lot on Graham Norton's show, it's genuinely brilliant.
