It can’t be overstated that YOU Shawn are a large reason why this show is so compelling. Your nature allows your guests to feel at ease and your service history validates you as a source worthy of telling the stories. Us vets can’t talk to civilians about war. It’s too much to unpack and explain. Thank you for all you do, and have done for our community and our nation. Love you guys.

Not alone tonight. I’m with all of the veterans that might be. If you are out there tonight, there’s a Dad who is lucky enough to plan for a good day tomorrow. He’s staying up late in NH. He’s aware of what’s going on as best he can be and he’s thankful for this content, because it’s here by all of your sacrifices. Ghosts and walkers alike. Stay focused on the good you can bring this world. You are loved and known, you are why. Merry Christmas everyone. Happy Holidays to cover the balance. Thank you veterans and actives. Don't say that about yourself. Knee replacements suck its a special kind of pain for first couple of weeks. Then there's physical therapy which can be evil and painful. My knee replacement was the best thing I ever did. My injury was when I was 16 and I had to wait until I was 50 and crippled.

@@michelletrimmer7431 - Thanks, Michelle. I was an athlete, then a powerlifter and bodybuilder. 58 years old and the knees just have no cartilage left. No injuries, just worn out, I guess. It has been 5 months and the knee still feels stiff. Nothing like what Ryan went through, though.

I'm now 3 years out and I can do anything I want. Every so often I struggle. I can kneel on it even though it's very “numb,” I can ride my horse, I can mount horse without difficulty (this was my biggest battle) I can run, I compete in horse shows and rodeos. It took a while but I worked through the pain and stiffness. I set goals. This year I plan to go skiing and possibly learn to snowboard. My original injury was from skiing when I was 16. You just have to push through the pain and stiffness. You got this. It is a process. Ryan is a amazing. His story is so interesting. An American hero.

I’ve started from the beginning with the Shawn Ryan Show and I love all of these episodes, but this one has been my favorite. This one hit home for me. My dad was in the army and he broke his back so they honorably discharged him and then he was a police officer for his career of 20 years. Once he retired in 2009, he lost his purpose and fell into a deep depression and developed alcoholism. In 2023, he got jumped in the Philippines when he was at a bar and 2 weeks later we buried him. His injuries from being jumped were what ended his life. He was only 61. I love my dad with all of my heart, but since my dad retired in 2009, he became a victim. He was convinced that no one had it harder than he did. All he could talk about with people was his struggles and it made a lot of people not want to be around him anymore. I do believe that my dad is at peace and he’s no longer struggling with his mental illnesses, but it’s still devastating for me to think that he went out like he did. Thank you all so much for this episode, it has truly changed my life. Ryan Hendrickson has taught me more about my dad than I knew myself. Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart. ❤

Some of the drunk things I've heard from dudes a bottle deep have literally sobered me up. And then there's usually I've never told anyone or my aunt and my sister are the only that knows. It's heart breaking and terrifying. There's a lot of good men...and bad men out there with secrets that make them almost ticking time bombs. These past 5 to 10 years I've been overjoyed how men (and women!) Have stopped pretending to be a superhuman with no emotions and nothing bothers them and standing up for the their fellow men and brothers. All it takes is one man that has the respect of their friends to say its okay or tell their story and it makes another hear it and feel safe to let theirs out. It's still a problem vut I have hope that this stigma that men don't have or talk about traumas. Ecspecially when they were defenseless little boys. Life's rough man or women. We all need friends and someone to talk to. ..And everyone should at least try a little therapy 🤷🤣❤

Just brought chills to me… I was one of the few in Panjwai in 2013-2014 and it was an absolute blood bath to include one of the guys that got blown up there. 2 weeks into deployment with multiple firefights which was a daily occurrence. FOB Zangabad over the year course was hands down one of the most violent deployment areas I’ve seen. Spent 9 months there and lost a lot of good dudes in that area. Edit: I’m at 2:04 and I’m a bucket of tears! You sir are an inspiration to all. I wish I could put into words how grateful I am for you still being here to share your words and your wisdom!! The fact that you recognize Kyle as a hero shows just how heroic you are as well sir!!

I can't overstate how brilliant this podcast is, every single one I've listened to. This particular one hit me hard when Ryan talked about survivor guilt and victimisation. I've been there and walked that path for a long time, its hard so hard, brought a tear to my eye hearing him talk about the survivor guilt. But he's so right that you can't let that define you. God had a different plan for you, he just had to get your attention, its gonna hurt BUT, you have a higher purpose. What an amazing message. Thank you so much God bless all of you, love from UK.

I never heard of the show until you were on Rogan. I did 7 years in the marines, never saw combat but I have had to miss the birth of my first born due to a deployment. I’ve been out for 2 years and listening to this episode really put my life into perspective. I’ve listened to a lot of your episodes, really love the vet combat episodes. But I have especially this past year dealt with a lot of depression and felt useless. Bust your ass and just felt no purpose. Listening to Ryan just opened my eyes and I’ve felt emotional today, about everything and I haven’t felt that in a very long time. Thank you so much Shawn because we do get kicked to the curb and feel alone and listening to someone who felt that way just hit home with this episode. I love the show and keep kickin ass man!

There is a difference between letting something we have done or has happened to us define us or just be a part of us. Not one job or event is capable of defining a person. Definition says it has stopped changing. Life is a continuous adventure until we get to the last chapter. Great video and story Ryan and Shawn!!

Shawn: that's the 3-Polarizer Paradox, and it has to do with the fact *light will reverse itself in time, when being observed. Literally, time travel in front of our eyes.* The photons rearrange themselves back through the slit under different, newly arranged structure in/out of observation, but first ensure that the first arrangement, no longer is what it was seen as. There's extensive content on this in video format. It's wild

There's not many podcasts or other platforms where the the interviewer allows those being interviewed to tell their stories without interfering or adding their two cents every time they feel the need. Everything is so pure and everyone that comes on the show feels at ease and is willing to open up because they feel safe.
