He gave his heart and soul to the team and it was time for him to go for a cup because it wasn’t gonna happen here. This man deserves to retire a Canuck.

Kesler was a great player here. In 2011 when the Canucks challenged for the cup, Kesler was on one leg after the San Jose series, then no legs, then the press box because of severe injuries. I think had he been 100% they would have easily beaten the Bruins. Thems the breaks but Kesler gave it everything he had, and then some. That's all that can be asked of any player. 6 or 7 players had surgeries after the playoffs. Edler played game 7 with 2 broken fingers, playing 26:20 Absolutely, Kesler should retire a Canuck. He deserves the respect of the franchise, if not the odd idiot fan who can't seem to respect what players give to the game.

Kesler was/is a warrior. A Canuck warrior. We can't forget that. We didn't develop many guys but he developed here. Gritty. He's like a JT Miller mold of a player.

Kessler Is a beast. He always has been. All heart and effort every shift. We wouldn't have made it past Nashville in 2011 without him. He was brought up and developed through canucks system. He never should have left for Anahim. Nice to hear him say it. Also nice He has great perspective and sounds like a great father and coach.

Time heals all wounds. He left on a bad note but the guy left it all on the ice for this team, those games vs Chicago, Los Angeles and San Jose were wars and Kesler was a warrior in every one of those games. Just ask the guys who had to play against him or his teammates who lined up with him.

I have to say he might have left to win a cup but on my part I loved him for giving everything he had. I knew his body was breaking down and I did not begrudge him wanting a cup. He's probably my all-time favorite Canuck and I have been watching them since the first game they ever played.

Kesler was the best performer during the 2011 run... I remember in that game 7 thinking, "why isn't anyone else stepping up? Kesler can't do it all by himself?!" He is the only Selke winner of this franchise. I don't want to bash any of the current Ring of Honour players, but I think it is safe to say that Kesler would be a well-deserved inductee, along with Tony Tanti.

I am definitely on board with Kess retiring as a Canuck. How you feel years later, after you mature and look back at a situation with fresh eyes can make all the difference. I think it would be good for current Canucks to see the support of the fans for these older team heroes, and to know that if they win us over now we'll love them forever.

I remember when Kes first played for the Canucks. He reminded me of the next Trevor Linden in so many ways. I was so bummed when he left. Kes and Bur were a killer combo back then. I sure hope he gets to retire as a Canuck, that would be awesome, not only for him, but for everyone that rooted for him.

To hear Kes say he regrets leaving is crazy to me. He is always a Canuck at heart and I never had a problem with him wanting to leave as I thought our window was over. I understand a two team trade window wasn’t good for us, but he deserved a chance. Ring of Honor worthy only Selke winner in our history

You can’t hate him for trying to win a Stanley Cup on a different team, when the Canucks were clearly headed towards the basement of the league. I’ll always feel bad for him during the 2010 Olympic’s and 2011 playoffs. He came so close to the gold medal and the Stanley cup in back to back years.

It’s big of him to admit he was wrong to ask for a trade, when really all he was doing was trying to win a Cup. He had an ego to him, for sure, but he was also young, rich, and famous. It doesn’t change how critical he was for the Canucks. Hope all wounds can be healed

With the Benning era coming in Kesler was likely to be traded anyways. Jimbo traded his friend Bieksa the following year. Also Anahiem had a couple good playoff runs while he was there.

"Even after everything that's happened." It's a weird statement. Since the only thing that happened is he wanted to win a cup and we were falling apart. I do fall under the "fan who was sour he asked out" category, but I never really disliked Kesler for it. He probably still has lingering injuries from how hard he battled for us. I also think he gets more hate for asking out because Bieksa said "I am going down with the ship." It's pretty heart breaking that he regrets leaving, but also feels nice that he has that much love for us after it's all said and done. I wish he did go off and win a cup. But he'd probably regret leaving less if he did end up winning. Lol. Sign this man, let him retire a Canuck.

SO many ex- and retired Canucks DESERVED a Cup. But it wasn't meant to be. Canucks would benefit IMMENSELY from a player like Kes. They DO have some but we need more skilled, needling pesky pesty players.
