@TheFresh Trumpet. This song actually came before "Do Nothin' Till You Hear From Me". Duke originally wrote this song to feature his lead trumpet player Cootie Williams, hence Concerto for Cootie. Later on it was given lyrics by Bob Russel. Both compositions are amazing pieces of music and art.

The piece is by Duke Ellington. "Concerto for Cootie" or also known as "Do Nothing 'Till You Hear From Me". The LCJO has a publishing company selling their transcriptions of all these old gems.

@nickheck that is definetly not a bucket. most buckets are attached over the bell and do not touch the interior at all. the mute under the plunger is called a pixie mute

@JSARogers I asked myself the same question! Why do we do that? LOL I like Wynton's creativity. These two dudes are both awesome in their own right.

It's called a "pixie" mute. Its kind of like a straight mute, but a little less buzzy. Helps make you sound really dirty!

does anyone have the "big train" segment from that same concert?

Omg is this "Do Nothin' Till You Hear From Me"? I played this in Jazz Band. One of my favorite songs. Nver thought to use a plunger for it.

@JSARogers Terence Blanchard? No one can truly say. They play different trumpets. If I had to go to hell I'd take Wynton with me because he's great at jazz and classical/baroque.
