After doing years in prison intellectual men like Nick and Ryan become tremendously good at reading people for who they really are. They truely understand the difference between a man who belongs in prison, and a man who has chosen the wrong path. It's human instinct to take on that fatherly role when you see someone you relate to making the wrong choices. It's just like Andy Dufresne and Red in Shawshank, some birds feathers are just too bright. Pelabra

This one just hit different bro... I love all ur stories and look forward to them every night and there hasn't been a single one i havent liked...but i felt this one on a sincere level man. Hard to describe but seeing how much those guys meant to you brought a feeling of happiness to me cuz i think ur a genuinely good person regardless of decisions made in active addiction that some may say would show otherwise. As a fellow addict its much easier to relate i am sure but the blessing is that its also much easier to look past that shit and give them a chance to show you their true character when most will have you judged before you even get the chance just because of the past that they dont even understand we regret more than anyone. Keep doing ur thing bro its awesome to see ur success...youve got a fan for life here 👊 PALABRA HOMIE

I just want to say this one of the best videos on KZbin that I've ever seen. In 32 minutes you had me cracking up to giggling to crying. It was such an impactful story and just by you reminiscing about it, you can just feel the authenticity of it. Thank you for bringing up your 5 years in the feds. I was a prison wife to a husband in the feds for 4 years so I can relate to all the parts with your parents sending random people money and the rdap program, halfway house, house arrest, etc. It feels like I was in prison too haha but seriously thank u for letting me know what actually goes on in there!! Much love and appreciation xoxo

@@brandonbarros1572 I don't think people talk enough about the family members that suffer while their loved ones are incarcerated. It was definitely a tough situation. It put me in my own mental prison while he was playing softball and lifting weights all day. It's quite ironic.

Ryan was so thankful and appreciative, such a beautiful, rare and sensitive soul. It's just unbearable to know our world has lost this bright, brilliant and beautiful light. I really thought (hoped) he was going to make it out ~ he had such a brilliant mind. We really need, as a world, to learn how to take care of our geniuses.... 💔

@@cr-nd8qh Heyyyy CR.. noooo... just no. I have thought the same thing.. and now 8 month's later.. I'm soo happy that I didn't end things. I was at the end of the worst addiction.. and seemingly couldn't stop.. but I did, 8 month's ago.. and whilst I'm not going to lie and say I'm deliriously happy.. I can honestly state that things are genuinely so much better. I really recommend you reach out and talk to someone.. there are people who can help you with whatever it is that is going on for you. The future you will thank you. And.. maybe it's time to start doing things for your future self? We live in very hard times right now.. it is very easy to feel defeated... but it's time to switch things up x
@natalielawrence8809
@natalielawrence8809 Жыл бұрын
@@cr-nd8qh I'm back a couple of hours later.. I was hoping that you would maybe reply. I understand you may not feel like writing and that's absolutely okay.. I truly understand that feeling. I just wanted to ask you one thing.. do you believe if Ryan had lived.. and he was given the time to get a handle on his addiction and underlying mental health issues.. that he would be living a life now that he perhaps could never have imagined for himself? My point is.. it is so hard when it is ourselves. It is too easy to lose perspective and hope.. with or without an addiction. I don't know if you have addiction issues.. but I believe that regardless, it's about getting support and being supported until you feel you are ready to support yourself. I am sending you all my best wishes. I believe in you.. and for whatever reason.. I can really sense some simmering hope within the seeming darkness of your comment. Please invest in yourself by talking to someone who you know can listen to you and help you get the support you need x

Happy crying from this one. That first taste of freedom, there’s nothing like it. And I haven’t even been to prison, but I have been institutionalized in other places & when the sun (or rain) finally hits you.. no words. There’s just no words to describe that. It’s beautiful hearing Ryan share that experience.

Nothing better than that feeling of finally walking out the door after doing years in prison! Always love your stories and you are inspiring me to tell my story too.. I've had similar experiences and currently I'm finishing up a probation sentence. Before I am done my goal is to expose the scam they call "Community Corrections" and the emergence of a new "treatment-industrial complex," which is fueled by opioid epidemic money. I hope to create some content that will appeal to a similar audience. Thanks for all the great videos!

Methadone legitimately savesd my life. Cannabis now makes me feel like my life is worth living, and I don’t self loathe the way I do without medicating. No street drugs period. Prescription benzos for the crippling addiction abusing them gave me... I’m not proud of where I’ve been, but I’m still fighting everyday to not go back to doing speedballs every two hours for months at a time.. no concept of reality and totally out of touch.. of course that’s what I wanted at the time.. I wanted to not feel.. the pain I was going through emotionally when I found opioids is 100% the reason I became addicted. It was the warm hug that made everything not matter

I got released to the greyhound bus station in Detroit. I wanna say we were hand cuffed no leg irons but we got told that we had to go straight into the bus station and we could leave there until we got on the bus. If we did it would be considered escape. I remember thinking this is crazy but I did it. I finally got to a transfer station in Lansing we had to be there for like an hour and a half. they put our money on a card and it was hard to find a phone to activate it but I did. I remember that moment contemplating should I get a beer or a coffee and thinking what am I really going to do know. I got a coffee and went to Wendy’s to find out that a jr bacon cheeseburger was now like $3 and I was pissed I wanted bacon but I stayed sober and remained that way for almost 3 years. That was definitely an emotional day. Regardless love you stufff #stayfree #palabra

Good question, it is rather haphazard isn't it... In fact I think this is the last one as #36/#37 condensed his last year or so in there and perhaps it's a blessing to see him so effervescent and motivated at this stage of his life. 🙏

There's some people in prison that become like a family, & push & motivate you, & as unbelievable as it sound's the organization I belong to actually FORCED ME & made me get my G.E.D, & not only that, but go to college!!!💯 This was in the Illinois prison system. They seen that there was "something different" about me, & it wasn't being THE ONLY WHITE GUY in my organization! Lol. They seen i was "a thinker", but also a "go getter" if need be, so they kept me away from the knuckle heads, & really sat me down & taught me damn near EVERYTHING I KNOW! They had me reading books like "The Art of War/The Art of Survival", "48 Laws of Power", "Behold a Pale Horse", & other warfare strategy books that most people that started Fortune 500 companies read. A lot of those strategies you can use in your daily life, inside & out! I would've NEVER got my G.E.D, & I was an excellent student in school, when I went as a kid, but these guys made me the respectable, righteous man I am today, & i thank them, & owe them a lot, not everyone in prison is looking to get over on you, or to run game on you, I ALWAYS say that the MOST LOYAL friends I have that I can trust my life with are in prison, since I moved outta Chicago 13yrs ago to Reno I don't have that level of loyalty, except with the guys I served my 6yrs with here in Nevada!💯

I laughed so hard I cried about the farts. I've experienced being threatened because of my gas from withdrawal. Plus the food is so fucked up there,everyone's farts are extra rotten. But there was for sure meetings between inmates about my gas 😂🤣
