In the HB and HH universe Lucifer/Satan are two separate entities with one representing the sin of pride the other the sin of wrath.

The thing about the shorts is that yes, time is being taken away, delaying the main episodes, but not entirely. They didn't stop production on the main series to focus on shorts. Instead they just have a much smaller team, meanwhile everyone else is focusing on the futures episodes. The development isn't a linear line from one episode to the next. While polishing is being done on one episode, there are people story boarding the next. The shorts are mainly just a way to have filler episodes for things that wouldn't fit as well as full episodes. Sallie May has been both a favorite of a lot of the fans, and a lot of the people on staff despite only briefly showing up so they wanted to do more with her. Obviously it wouldn't make sense to give her an entire episode so she got a short.

I perosnally liked the acting in the first short. It's sweet, wholesome (for Helluva Boss Standards) and helped us get to know Millie more. I liked it.

Satan is the ruler of the wrath ring, where the imp species comes from, so they would defer to him as their specific ruler even though Lucifer is the ruler of hell as a whole and outranks Satan.

Some of the shorts might be made because some people were upset that many full episodes don't involve I.M.P. doing their job.

Yeah, the second one, the concept is funnier than the actual short. The penguin was funny the first time, but then they kept repeating, and it kind of lost it by the end.

In terms of the time and resources for the shorts, I'm not entirely sure that it's taking away from the main series, especially considering the amount of time between episodes 7 and 8. I could be wrong, of course, but I also think in terms of another show that had shorts, which was "Gravity Falls." And you and I have something in common with that series: we watched the series after it had already ended. So yeah, I lean towards being good with the shorts and appreciating them.

The Shorts are basically “filler” in between the main episodes and seem to be a way to insert a bit of the episodic feel of early Season 1 back into the series without derailing the main story. I really don’t think they’re detracting much, if any, from the production of the full episodes. That said, I personally find the first two shorts okay. The first one was more cute than funny, and the second one while more comedic loses a bit of its appeal after a few rewatches. The second one does get a bit of bonus points with me for being a slight nod to The Thing. Short number three however….Well I’ll save my opinion on it for when you get to it.
