Pretty sure i remember it happeneing to the Bolton keeper (at the time) Jussi Jaaskelinen, afterwards they said he had held it for something like 7.2 seconds, pretty harsh but he had probably been time wasting prior to that. Fairly certain he got booked for it too

@Welshwazza there are many in Wrexham who speak Welsh, myself included. The number is growing too. Supports of the club live all over North Wales and further afield. Many of them speak Welsh as their first language.

Rob nailed the pronunciation of the village! It took me hours to learn it once and I cannot say it with a welsh accent at all so I am shocked at how well he did that. Must have been taught by a welsh speaker, or hes a wizard.

I don’t really follow any sport but became interested after watching the documentary. Occasionally different team owners are referenced in news stories and it just seemed to me that ownership of a team was the douchebag thing to do to keep up with the other billionaires. I never thought about what team owners who care could actually give to a community. I hope there are other owners of midsize and small teams who we’ve not heard of because they’re not celebrities and who try to lift up the town and not just themselves.

This is just the best good news story. Their respect for the city of Wrexham, their supporters , the lower football leagues and the football played by their rivals Notts county is amazing. I've lost count how many times I screamed at my TV because a fingernail was offside. Being millimeters offside doesn't give the attacker any advantage. It goes against the spirit of the law. Counting the millimeters is just a stat obsession, it doesn't provide any real world advantage.

Hahaha, that happened to me too. I didn't count but I first said 6 seconds then changed my guess to 8 seconds. I don't know why but 8 seconds seems much more realistic. Also, none of the refs are applying the 6 seconds rule to the actual game as far as I see.

Offside rule: 2 or more players between scorer and goal line at time of pass. Includes goalkeeper. Latest iteration I think takes scorer as the forward most body part of the person that you can use to score with (usually a shoulder)

Direct freekicks are a lot more common than indirect ones and the 6 second rule for goalkeepers is barely applied. Both are fairly archaic and you probably wouldn't know them unless you'd played it growing up. Foul throw-ins are penalised more in youth football. Few curve ball questions for most Americans in there 😅 Ps Sunny is my favourite show ever, loving the podcast too!

To be honest I was thinking about this recently - I have not heard the term indirect free kick in a while (since I was a kid) and that was when I was playing outside with my mates! I am the wrong side of 35.

Its certainly a rare occurrence. Without looking it up, the only time I think I see it called is when a a pass-back to the keeper is picked up by his hands, resulting in an indirect kick in the box. Are there any other instances??
