I’m a Santander fan as well and wish him the best. However, sentimentality is how Chris Davis got the ridiculous contract he got years ago. Thankful for all Anthony did and meant to the team during the dark times until now, however, it was his time to go.

Being a Jays fan brought me here, appreciate the different perspective. Two different teams in O's and Jays, one has a lot of young talent that will be getting paid in Arb, the other is desperate to put a winning team on the field for Fans and Players that are thinking of leaving.

Orioles' fans like Tony, and will miss him for sure, but Heston was drafted as a player with the potential for 40+ HR power. He's already hit clutch home runs that won O's games including a grand slam. He needs more playing time for sure to find out what his typical stats will be, but he already had a .351 OBP in about 100 AB. He hits the ball to the opposite field. He's hit lefties well in limited ABs.

Batting averages have fallen from past norms by over ten points and it's because of how pitchers are used. Santander even when he didn't get a hit almost always put pressure on opposing pitching going high in counts.

His hitting metrics were god awful. He routinely swung at pitches a foot outside the strike zone.

He was one of our clutches hitters. Regardless of what you think I would have rather pay Tony the money than Oneil! He was one of us. Came from the rule 5 draft. Debuted here. Why not keep him? Now we gotta deal with the taters being against us. I would have rather see him leave anywhere but the AL East. We don’t advance.

Completely agree. Love Tony but man he killed a lot of rally’s for us. Hes a fine player but there’s also a reason why there wasn’t much interest in his services and why he lasted until the last stretch of free agency.

I dont see how we got better. Elias is banking on the young talent to show up n fill the gaps. We needed O'Neil last yr for the stretch run. Now we have to replace 45 hrs n 100 rbis n a 15 win SP. The only thing that got better was the bullpen n that's if are closer stays healthy.

We love Anthony. However, we have options in the minors we need to check out. We have talent waiting that are blocked by position players right now. Tony was the odd man out. Basallo is going to be the backup catcher DH in a year. Mayo and Heston will start this year. We need to see Jackson develop. We need to see Honeycut. Start extending our core players, Adley, Gunar, Westy.

I'm a jays fan checking out the site. Your projected payroll is 150m. Jays is in the 260's presently. I like balt and thought once the new ownership came you would get a couple of aces in the rotation either through free agency or trade ie crochet. I still see you as a wildcard winner and jays as competing for fourth place in division. Yankees have a really strong rotation. Your window period won't last forever. I hope your owners open up the purse strings when the Time is right. I know some of the core stalled last year as I had adley on my fantasy team. As long as you have ownership willing to spend when the Time is right is important. I'm not sure what the jays strategy is. If it's building a winner or just sheer mgmt desperation to save their jobs.

Elias and Sig believe in there method please read Astro Ball. Think about how Houston won. They traded for big pitchers (Verlander, Cole , Greinke) Out of their core prospects they only resigned Altuve. Springer, Correa, and Bregman) all hit free agency. This is the reality of how this team is going to be run regardless of how rich the owner is. Mullens will get traded or not resigned same with Mountcastle.

Its easy, as soon as the Orioles signed O'Neill, Santander's not coming back. Santander went for cheaper, the Orioles didn't save much. They didn't expect that. Orioles are 15th in PR now but that's having not as good a team as they entered 2024 with. No ace. Only 18M committed for 2026 and zero for 2028. Instead of liftoff they can be back in the hangar very quickly.

Heston is not the guy. He’s a bad fielder and he hasn’t shown much at the plate. I’m irritated about losing Tony. Who are we replacing his production with?! When is this Organization going to stop being cheap! Enough is enough. I don’t expect us to spend like the Dodgers or Yankees, but damn, come on new ownership, spend some damn money , like you said , and acquire some top tier players to fill out the good core we have.
