"It's just that I've never seen that" makes me think that what Barry really meant was "I've never seen what happens after I'm done with the job"

Isn’t it awesome? Even if you kill the lowest scum, there will be someone grieving and distraught over him.

Not to be rude, but that's kinda the point here. A lot of the scenes in the show are just characters interrupting/misinterpreting what Barry is saying and him just going with it (i.e. his "improv" scene in 1x01 before he starts the acting class). Not real much subtext here, just a running gag.

barry's anxiety when he walked out of the bar was such an incredible performance, its like looking into a damn mirror. bill is such an amazing actor and you can clearly tell he drew from his own experiences with anxiety while doing this scene

revisiting after last nights episode and this scene is even more devastating

The perfect thing about this scene is that it shows how human Barry really is. It demonstrates how much Fuches fucked him up and deluded him. Barry, this presumed psychopathic murderer, feels real guilt, and beyond that, he empathizes with Ryan's father. In may ways he is more human than the rest of his acting troupe. Sally really couldn't care less. Even after seeing Ryans father breaking down, she is more concerned with her upcoming performance and waves the father's desperate grieving off as "intense". She at no point exhibits empathy for the father or Barry. Barry is the least distanced from the impassioned moment of this scene. And Barry is, as Detective Moss put it, a fucking murderer. It's hard not to think that this moment, and the many that proceed it, are statements on the sociopathic tendencies of those who are desperate to break into Hollywood. Which is not to say that such behavior is typical Irl...

Barry didn't get psychological treatment or counselling for what happened in Afghanistan and then he went straight onto being a hitman working for a guy who was practically the only family he had; a pretty realistic take on how a normal person could become a killer until it consumed their life.

Well, we all know he´s now really fucked up. Last season made me went from "poor guy, this is too much for him at this point" to "Oh... fuck..."
@ssheeessh Жыл бұрын
There's a reason Albert had more empathy than Detective Moss. Murder isn't black and white. We applaud the killing of some, and exile others. Sadly I think Barry is too far gone at this point. He really lost it in season 3

This is the scene I thought of when Barry was having a meltdown imagining Chris' wife getting the phone call about his death. I don't know that he would've imagined what it looked like on 'the other end' without seeing Ryan's father in grief first.

Brahmaputra Moskva her fear of losing control and the appearance of being a leader is a big part of her character. She’s a very scared person because of her previous experience in her abusive relationship. That’s why she has such an apparent ego, especially with acting. All she’s doing in her real life is pretending to be a strong person, and failing at that means she’ll be vulnerable and exposed to everyone. It’s a parallel to Barry and how they both work to project a better version of themselves despite that not being entirely genuine.

It sometimes feels so annoying when Barry has some overwhelming feelings and then a character from his acting class comes along and says somthing like "That's good, use that, that's what acting is about."
@TheOnlyJzillaMerida2 жыл бұрын
I only got done with acting school this year and I can safely say that’s just real. If you’re angry at the world your classmates and teachers will just say “You should use that!” and not acknowledge what’s ACTUALLY happening inside you. It’s shitty, but it’s real.
@aksharaghav96572 жыл бұрын
@@TheOnlyJzillaMerida Sorry to hear that. Don't let that affect your will to be an actor, it's a wonderful field.
