Well I'm not sure about her but I know I have a delayed emotional reaction to things. I almost never blow up when something insane happens and I've seen quite a bit of insanity in my life. But I will usually be pretty laid back even if I'm serious on the inside.

The raw answer is, because she doesn't trust him, they either communicate poorly with one another, or in this case the obvious, someone already told her via email, so the point of these are.... to trick them. Straight up, point blank- period. She already did ask and she doesn't trust him. She knows and wants to catch him in the lie. She wants the hard proof to not feel guilty for leaving him with any possibility of her being wrong. Which she already knows, but yeah...it's the hard proof their searching for, by tricking them.
