Hey everyone! Thanks for the kind comments. Thanks to Sick Drummer for the support. I just wanted to say that it's an honor to be used in their video segments and to hear back from YOU guys! I know I'm not playing blast beats or 300BPM or whatever some people may want to see, BUT that's not what Sick Drummer is ALL about. First and foremost, I will always write my parts for the song, to match melodies, riff's and whatever is going on musically. Dev also produces my parts in the end too. From there I make it as interesting (technically) as possible while maintaining a groove at all times. Sorry to those who just want to see blast beats and speed drumming but that would not suit every song I do for Devin and the DTP. Thanks to Ian and SDM for seeing 'sick drumming' in many forms and ways! In the end it's all about feel, taste and what's best for the song in any style of music! Keep drumming guys, wishing you all the best! - RVP

Ryan Van Poederooyen You don't need to play blast beats to create a great video, just look what you have done here, it's just amazing... And SDM is not for death or black metal only, is for every drummer out there capable to play as great as you did!

I think talent is better represented by your choice to not do crazy blast beats and 300bpm tracks in songs where it doesn't fit ;). Love your stuff, Ryan. One of my favorite all time drummers, easy.

Always love seeing RVP on here, it's always a refreshing change of pace from all the blast beats and 240bpm double kick. Just real pounding, solid, servicing the song metal drumming!

Gotta be one of the most improved drummers out there, I mean his progression from Accelerated Evolution way back in 2003 all the way to Transcendence in 2016 has been awesome. Granted he was always a very solid drummer but he has been killing it lately (z2 concert at Royal Albert Hall comes to mind). The cymbal dynamics and the sound of the cymbals is pure ear porn for a drummer
@ninjeff7 жыл бұрын
RVP did not play on Accelerated Evolution. He didn't join DTP until (i think) Ki. And -if i recall correctly- was the "live" drummer until Epicloud. But i could be wrong on that time line. I know he didnt play on the early DTP records though.

You know what I love about RVP? Watch the studio footage from the "Transcendence" sessions and any live footage and you'll see he's so disciplined, clean and tight. He always brings his A game, plus he's always such a positive dude. I hope we see more great work from him post DTP.

Finally a band with some decent haircuts! Loving the drumming Ryan, awesome feel and groove for the track. What is the Ride you are using, sounds awesome? I use a AAX 21" raw bell ride and have moved onto 14" Paragon hats, I found the AAX stage hats I had a little to heavy, especially on the top hat.

TrashMetal26 -not djent -blast beats and skank beats aren't the only things that demonstrate skill -listen to this band and listen to their work before making a stupid comment. and opinion is only as valid as the knowledge on the subject.

DTP is my favorite band dude. I can play the lead to Ki on guitar and I play along to Kingdom on drums as my warmup. Death of Music is my favorite song and I own a Ziltoid puppet. I've been a drummer for 6 years, a guitarist for 8 and a bassist for 10. That being said, I'm just pointing out the fact that so many guys lose their shit over drummers like Matt Gartska, when IMHO they are nothing special. This song is more djent-y, no denying that, so I'm just waiting for a bunch of n00bs to come in and be like WOW LOOK AT HOW COMPLEX AND AMAZING THE DRUMMING IS when for this particular song its just simple stuff, and that's what it tends to be 95% of the time for djent-y type stuff.
@t3hgir8 жыл бұрын
Good for you, but If you can't appreciate Matt Garstka's incredible diversity of skill on the kit I feel bad for you, and this is coming from a huge DT fan as well
@rippindrummer6668 жыл бұрын
Drummers like this guy, nic yacashyn, garstka, Danny Walker, Kai hahto are way better than most of the blasturbator drummers that are using ally posted on here(and that's coming from a drummer who loves blast beats) blasting while more physically strenuous takes a lot less skill and talent to play compared to stuff like this. All blastbeats are are repetition and muscle memory, that's it. Anyone can learn to blast but not everyone can learn to write parts for songs like this guy does.
