RV is one of the modern icons of Motocross. We are very similar in age and I followed his career from a relatively unknown amateur all the way through his incredible pro career. I have always wanted to have RV on the show, but I am glad it took us this long as we have actually got to hang a bit over the last 6 months. He's a legend of a bloke and a really fun guy to hang around... I hope that comes across in this show! We talk about Ryan joining BluCru, why redheads have the most championships, if he retired to early, how his speed would stack up today, and even though it is kinda old news now, we talk about the Ando / Jett situation and what it means for the sport, as well as our upcoming trip to New Zealand to ride with 2007 team mate and rival Ben Townley.

I had the semics book.. paperback.. we couldn't afford the tapes.. I read those 31 techniques everyday after school then went out and practiced every single day for 5 years!! I raced RV and Alessi both.. the semis book and tapes are literally ALL WE HAD growing up

I've gotten so much better at riding by just watching pros, and watching every move they make, or even trying to figure out how they do certain things... definitely helps watching and studying to get better at things

You should ask him about Alessi like what was it like losing to Alessi for so long on minis? Did it make him push harder to be better, did it hurt his confidence? Also, what did he start doing differently to become so dominant in the 125/250f class?

I would record the nationals at my house and bring the vhs tape over to my other buddies house because he and his brothers didn't have cable and we would all sit around and watch them in his garage and work on our bikes. Man were those days fun!

KZbin is the big game changer because you can now see, and over and over again, and easily, exactly how other riders are handling sections. The ability to learn is simply exponentially faster.

RV2 said that todays racing is not elevated beyond his racing 10 years ago…. I disagree, I don’t know that you can watch the 2022 Tomac Sexton outdoors series and think that there was ever a moment in the sport where that evolution of speed and riding took place. The last similarity to right now was the stewart/charmicael evolution….. not to take away from RV but he did not race the big dogs in their prime 😂😂😂 and yes there has been a huge evolution of speed and technique, at least that’s what I have noticed the last couple years. It’s getting insane with speed and technique. RV and dungey were the top giys in the era of the sport they were involved in….. but I don’t believe they evolved the sport like the mc/ RC/STEWART/sexton/tomac/ and now Jett…. There’s guys that can hang and eventually win win win…. And then there’s guys that completely change the way an entire generation rides a dirtbike…. And that’s some wild shit to think about.

Agree on the simple bit of “packing the gate” I never packed the gate as a kid cause I’m like “what’s that for”? Plus asking another kid rider to hold your bike for what 😂 it took time back then.

Really dont see how people say James invented the scrub. All he did was name something guys in amateurs did for years

That golf comment was comical. 0.6% of golfers ever break even par just once in there lifetime. The odds of getting good at golf without a trainer, daily swings, and starting at a young age, it's gonna take much much more than watching some youtube.

Agreed. Sometimes Jase just needs to stop trying to relate himself to these legends that come on the show, and instead just let them talk.

lol you can’t get good at golf faster because of KZbin lol it’s going to take your years to be able to be so consistent to be able to shot a very low score and do that few days out of the weekend at tournaments good luck. Just cause you do moto and have that dumb I’m a dirt bike kid ego and do a podcast. Doesn’t mean other sports are easier. Moto you can get hurt just as easy as some new guy dropping in on a 10ft vert ramp

Getting fast on a mx bike is far more difficult than getting good at golf.

Listening to this guy reference golf everytime he does in brain numbing… golfers don’t go saying motocross is easy and adaptable as long as you put the work in cause it’s out there on KZbin to watch and study… you either have it or you don’t. Reference something else for once why don’t you cause you just don’t quite know what your saying dude

Evolution isn’t always a good thing a lot of young kids are going to permanently injure themselves and or kill themselves by pushing their limits and when their limits are the same level as big bikes and fast riders on tracks made for full sized bikes. RV has the right idea keeping his kids away from big tracks and just working on fundamentals and learning. I’ve seen kids on 65s hit hundred foot jumps and start doing backflips also seen kids die before reaching puberty or knowing what it’s like to be with a woman seen some get paralyzed too and will never get to enjoy some of the experiences you get as a normal kid growing up. There needs to be sensibility and common sense but too many ego headed parents with way too much money stretching what the average rider and kid is suppose to be doing in the sport to the point only the rich and the privileged will be able to compete and destroy everyone. It’s almost like the pro class now where you got 10 guys crushing it and 30 guys getting lapped and these are best riders in the world they basically need their own class factory riders get their own class and pro privateers get their own class.
