This is what I don’t understand about Celtic’s recruitment policy. They either buy young but cheaper or old but expensive. Why not buy young but expensive?! The last time we did that was Odsonne Édouard and he was sensational! Darío Osario is the perfect example of who we should get this summer that is young but still a marquee signing who would INSTANTLY boost the quality of the starting eleven, NOT a project!

Its about time. Just since the beginning of Ange's time we've signed Lager, Rocki, Bernabei, Kwon, Holm, Yang, Tilio and Oh just off the top of my head. None of whom have anywhere near the necessary ability to be at the club and were only signed because they MIGHT be sold for a profit.

First 60 mins celtic vs real madrid with ange was the best I ever seen celtic and it shows what we need to do to go forward young energetic fast and good players we dont need nobody over 30

Would you sell McGregor then? Would you rather have Kroos and Modric in your centre mid or Hatate and O'Reily? The age should come after the quality. Too often we buy players who are young and might turn out good because it means a higher profit margin. But we also rarely sign experienced players, Hart is a brilliant example of how and experienced player can work well. But we cant go back to being the club that signs has beens just cause they want to retire with Celtic on their CV. There is a reasonable balance to be had. Its no use to use getting youngers players a year or two european experience to then sell them and replace with another young player who needs two seaaons to build their experience up (rinse and repeat). That leaves us in the 'always next year' trap which has seen us fail to win a european knock out tie for over two decades.

@@davidkelly499 apologies for the late reply sir but yes I would have kroos and modric because they are hall of famer type players unique and have lasted years because they have taken care of themselves and are still brilliant regardless of age if they were slow and faded thier big names wouldn't get them a game before hatate and mcgregor. It's tricky as scottish culture promotes drinking every weekend drugs smoking and the youngsters here get caught up in it and can never reach the level of kroos and modric as it takes something from thier ability that lifestyle rather than clean living. I think the qaulity you say is good when they are older if they are cheap as they are low risk but it has to be run like a machine I get your rinse and repeat example for sure but we need to buy young good players like French eddy as they can make an impact straight away and thier value can double or treble easily then say we done that got 2 9 million players sell them for 20 plus each after 1 or 2 years buy 4 9 million players and rinse and repeat that way as we can afford to keep any player as we can pay thier wage plus it keeps making money constantly every year champions league or not. We would get to pick and choose who we keep after few years exactly what ange was doing but buy the next big star young and expensive as will always get money back on them and always have a fit strong team.

@@davidkelly499 I forgot to say aswell sir that we were buying players at 6 million in early 2000s since then the market inflation for everything in the world has doubled trebled or more so in actual fact we are getting conned by the board and if we weren't why are we not buying 12 to 18 million pound players if we have not been downsized secretly by a sneaky board if we done the buy young and expensive plan within a few years of that and champions league money we could be a really rich and powerful club in world football like ajax have done for years. We should be buying players of that price or more but its clear like I say the board are insanely greedy they struggle to pay buttons for players in football like 5 million they will try low ball or take forever to get deals done I mean good players aren't on the market for long everyone wants them but we take forever then end up with half decent unknown players from unrecognised teams for buttons and hope they good or get english rejects or wash ups on loan or on a free it's no ambition to become bigger and better its killing us slowly

He said the same last summer and January but we got even more £2-3m wage thief diddies with wingers who cant hit the byline and put a ball in the box, defenders who cant defend and strikers cant put the ball in the net. Arguably without wee James Forrest we may have lost that league.

The method you see at Man City & Chelsea is they buy in first team players that wont necessarily get a game and are instanly loaned out. If they do well but still dont seem good enough for City first team they sell at a profit or if they ARE good enough they are put in the squad. It negates the projects sitting collecting wages then gettin booted at a loss 2 years later after barely appearing. Players like Lagerbielke and Jolm shoulda been INSTANTLY loaned out. But more experience is def required and I WOULDNT be shelling out 6M for Bernardo

I didn’t realise it’s been that long since we’ve won a knockout tie in Europe. That’s unacceptable for it to be over 20 years. Hopefully with this change in transfer strategy we can start winning more games in Europe.

You have to remember that Moussa and Odsonne were 'project players' as well. With young players it can be hard to know if they have it in them to make that big step up, or whether theyve reached a level and thats it. But the Moose and Odsonne did us a real turn on the park and then made us a hunk of money when they left - enough to cover a bunch of 'also ran' players. Big Ange and Brendan Rogers have a real keen talent for spotting a player, the scouting team also. They cant Always hit the jackpot though. You just have to trust them. I have no doubt that 5 talented players go elsewhere for every one they sign - and we arent often getting our first choice. The harder thing is offloading players who will never make the cut. We gave up Davie Turnbull last winter while keeping a good half dozen who werent even close to a starting place. We have to be more unsentimental about moving players on. That will give us the room to take a risk on a young player now and then. .

They normally wait till season books are to be renewed and then spill their rubbish bout checking this player and that player at a fair number millions .. But in end buy in very ordinary cheap signings and con young fans time and again .. club have over £150m within and still are way overly tight ..All they want is make millions out of their dud signings like OH and all that amount of millions within stay untouched.
