Please keep to the standard units for air investigations. They are feet (or flight levels) for altitude, knots for speed, and miles (nautical miles) for distances. As a physicist, I would normally work in SI units, but in a field where there are well established units it's easier to stick to the standard units for that field than to clutter the narrative with alternate units. But... If you persist in giving sprouts in metres as well as in feet, please be sensible about the precision. All the altitudes were in round numbers of feet, so it is incorrect to quote fractions of metres for the metric equivalents.

If it isn't MCAS related, then my suspicion would be they hit wind shear, which also might explain the go around, if they were encountering wind shear on the approach.

As a complete amateur flying little airplanes I have flown higher than I wanted. I simply pointed nose down gently, reduced power and corrected trim (not forgetting carb heat.) Is it possible to stall a descending 737max? Gravity still applies to them as it does to us. The pilots must be frightened of something not to reduce power. Perhaps they had 'get there itis'! Do you forget what you are taught on little airplanes when you turn professional? Perhaps something was sticking so they couldn't reduce power.

My thoughts: 1) Ryanair are cheapskate bastards - knowing that Boeing in trouble with their Bo 737 MAX they negotiated a super deal by taking the entire series of those dangerous aircarft that only received a software update from the manufacturer after 2 crashes investigation and fix. Boeing was glad that one airline interested to take the entire warehouse of these problematic planes. To avoid scaring public Ryan cheakily rebranded the model of the craft, I checked personally onboard, so the general public while onboard will not make a direct connection with those airplanes however they exactly those planes. It was a tight and tough deal, Ryan are aggressive arseholes and Boeing did not have much choice, sides agreed. So, the planes are still problematic and questionable. 2) As Boeing is still in investigations, recently fired CEO, received enormous fines and charges, clearly planes are not up to its best state, quality and safety wise, support and servicing too. So, you cannot expect servicing and maintenance of these planes to be on top currently. 3) As Ryanair are cheapskates and big arsеholes you cannot expect a great deal od checking, servicing, maintaining the planes either. 4) Ditto you cannot expect great pilots in the team as the company is also trying to economise on crew and pilots. So, all in all, we have risky plane; low quality servicing; potential plane fault of software and/or instruments; combined with human error or lack of knowledge how to tame probIematic 737 MAX. CIassic set of two corporations' high greed, cinicaI approach and careIessness over anything eIse.

@theHDRflightdeck4 ай бұрын

Safety is always priority! No airline ever would encourage pilots to pursue a landing when they don’t think it’s safe to do so. A go around is always fine with safety as a sole reason, not the airline’s finances
@mrvwbug44233 ай бұрын
Could also be weather related. Wind shear can absolutely cause a situation like this, and a wind shear alarm in the cockpit on approach would mean an immediate go around, so they may have initiated the go around at the wind shear alarm, then got hit hard by wind shear as they were climbing out.
@ZXH884 ай бұрын
For once, maybe it's not completely a Boeing fault. In a recent flight with Ryanair, during the approach, they were descending so quickly that I started to feel like I was almost weightless, a sensation that I've never experienced in any previous flight. Ryanair pilots are not just bad in landing, they are also bad in manoeuvring. 737 MAX and Ryanair pilots, a combination to avoid
@krusty19743 ай бұрын
MCAS never cased any crash. Poor maintenance and poor training coupled with poor airmanship and poor basic flying skills did. AOA sensor failure was the trigger for an “Undesirable state of flight” which was fully recoverable. Who says the contrary is ignorant of the matter. Unfortunately multifaceted incompetency worsened the situation in both accidents till a crash occurred. MCAS was poorly designed in an industry where pilots have become a joke and can’t actually fly the airplane anymore. Nevertheless it worked perfectly well, as intended and as designed. We need fool proof airplanes because we deliver them to fools.
