My first trip report, give me any feedback you’ve got, it’s much appreciated! A small correction, I got the Dublin terminals confused, I arrive with Ryanair to terminal 1 and depart with Aer Lingus at terminal 2, I hope you enjoy!

By watching the landings from my computer looked like that ryanair landing was much better smoother and not long flare as in that aer lingus! Great report!

I’ll be honest I think GoPro stabilisation helped out Ryanair, it felt much bumpier then it looks ;)

Having flown both more times than I care to count I can say Aer Lingus is better on routes such as Dublin to Paris or Rome because from my experience they were only ever €60 more tops which for me is worth not having to deal with Beauvais or Ciampino, or on a long flight. However on a flight like Dublin to Bristol with a short flight time and one airport I wouldn't hesitate to choose Ryanair if they were significantly cheaper. Just got back from Milan and we flew Aer Lingus to and from Linate and we're heading to Edinburgh with Ryanair in 2 weeks so I honestly couldn't live without either ✈. Great report I really enjoyed

I used to fly alot from Manchester to Dublin(it will teach me for dating an American and flying across every 8 weeks(you clear US Immigration there and not in the US so its much quicker than flying direct if you time it right)!!!), the thing that I always found uncomfortable is with the runway layout you feel like you fly past the airport before landing with the runway off-set to the side of you.

The camera doesnt lie and Ryanair landing feels much smoother than the air lingus one. A bit of prejudice here maybe?
@PilotStudd2 жыл бұрын
Maybe, but I was on the plane, so I of all people would know, GoPro stabilisation takes greater effect on the first landing as resolution changes its impact, I went from 1080p to 2.7k between the two flights. The Ryanair landing was faster with no float unlike Aer Lingus, so maybe that explains it. Regarding the point of prejudice, Ryanair is my most used airline, i really do like them!
@MerkyAviation112 жыл бұрын
Great video, I can’t lie. I hope you enjoyed your flight to my home airport Dublin and touring out the city itself. Should’ve flown on the 16th. The weather was banging and there were so many people there at the time. I’ve been on Aer Lingus like 3 times and I’ve experienced what you’ve experienced but Ryanair, No Comment cos I’ve never been on the airline yet. Would’ve liked to see more details such as the seat number both flights and both aircraft registrations.
@PilotStudd2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Both my seat numbers were revealed on the price bit (and I think I said it), and both aircraft registrations were listed in the bottom left corner around boarding :)

Dang £40 for that Ryanair flight was highway robbery. I've flown from Dublin to both Luton and Gatwick for €8 each way. The stupidly cheap fares are frequent enough that personally I don't see the extra cost for BA or Aer Lingus as worthwhile. Obviously Aer Lingus's relatively new T2 at Dublin is a lot better than Ryanair's wing of T1, but I'm not sure it's worth say 5-10x the price. BA and Aer Lingus have the benefit of flying to LCY and LHR, both of which are better than Luton and Gatwick. The train from Luton to London is sometimes only £3.50 which really helps keep travel costs down, especially compared to the train to Stansted. If travel dates are inflexible and Ryanair doesn't have any cheap seats left, I'd fly a legacy carrier, especially if it was only 10 quid more. Personally, on sub 1hr flights I don't care about the product too much if I don't have any extra bags. I had a 4.5 hour flight on a Ryanair Max 8200 and the 28 inches of pitch would have been miserable if I didn't have the row to myself. I'm honestly going to avoid the Max 8200 to the best of my ability on flights over an hour or so. The 30 inches of pitch on a 737-800 is just so much more tolerable, even if the seats themselves are just as short and uncomfortable.
@RJS42872 жыл бұрын
I was shocked when I flew from Stansted. Cramped and very uncomfortable - even Lounge was tacky. Very poor compared to my regular Asian ports like Changi & Incheon. Wonder what first impression that gives of UK to visitors though LHR & LGW are hardly world beating.
