I recently did a gulf style livery on my sct ford raptor body. I used a duratrax pearl silver to give it a little bit extra than just the solid color straight from the can.

Would you please try to paint a body with the Tamiya tape for curves and do a simple-ish scheme...maybe a practice body or something, but show some parts of the process along the way...? I'd love to see how someone with your painting skill would approach the tape and rattle can method, even with a little bit of airbrushing for shading or drop shadows or something simple....

I have a team associated t6.1 and I got it used and the body is black in the front then sorta fades into white in the rear and on the bottom in front of the rear tire cut out it’s like scars in a dark red with playing cards on it its really dope

I thought about the qater dipping technique (i dont know if it‘s called that). Where you float some colors in a water surface and then slowli take the body out, then it gets all the stripes randomly. After i would use a layer of white to make the colors pop. But i don‘t know if that would work with the lexan colors. Maybe if the white layer is lexan color it could work too

Love the fact that the "kit" body uses more skill and paint than the "pro" body. Checkers on the front AND back AND four colors between them. AND either end uses different colors. Light in the front and dark in the rear. Might as well just price out both to a painter and save time on the BS.

I love painting my own bodies. The last one I did was a Tiger Stripe shceme in two tone blue, with a set of racing stripes on top that met at a point on the front. There's something about doing your own scheme that's just satisfying.

Back in the day there used to be concourse before the race where the real custom bodies would show up to win a trophy but you wouldn't see them on the track. A lot of the race bodies were painted like a Nascar or other relatable racing livery. These days with everyone running custom bodies with custom stickers an old school paint scheme stands out nicely.

I love your “Kit” look. Don’t get me wrong your “Pro” is dialed but the “Kit” just looks real. And by real I mean relatable. Humble, yet confident at the same time. An actual person, not just a factory drone. I see more personality out of your “Kit” than your “Pro”. That said, you do a really noice job either way. Love your vids Ryan! Keep it up! Semper Par!

I kinda feel your examples could have been better. You used to have an rc10 car, with a black / orange yellow white scheme behind you. That IMO, is something much more achievable with a rattlecan and very classic. Good video though, not trying to hate..

I don't know jack about color theory, but my scheme colors go great together and my S1R stickers are a cool contrast to that that looks great. Most people just get the same exact color stickers as their primary paint colors which is safe and usually works but the contrasting can really set things apart if done right.

Heya Ryan (love the vids btw), I was wondering if you had any views/knowledge on 1/10th scale Tekno cars? About a year ago I bought my first rc race car, the EB410 and absolutely love it, although it seems I'm the only one in the south of England running one (got it cos it was by far the cheapest new kit to buy as it was going out of stock and manufacture - student budget...). Do you know anything about the EB410.2? Is it worth upgrading to it or switching to another brand like XRAY/Associated (what most people here run it seems) and does upgrading through the variants of cars really make a huge difference being faster? or is that all just noticeable to pros too? I guess one other quick thing; do you have any tips for people trying to race on limited student budgets other than buying less food and getting a summer job hahaha. Thanks :)

Having a primary colour that can be called out from the rostrum is important. Hate it when someone has a 5 colour car that isn't clearly callable, makes marshalling/ race controlling difficult.

Haha 'super easy', yeah something like that. As always Ryan great content, amazing skills and cool makeshift photo studio. Your photos/ images are just stunning and fully agree on the long range shots. As for the paint schemes both are really strong of course and difficult to choose. For me it's all about character too, like the old skool 80's kits from Tamiya and the rest. One thing that comes to mind though is the actual form of the body. I'm a car designer (big ones not little ones) and feel that today's bodies are all just a bit generic and dare I say it dull. Knowing your attention to all details why don't you think about a Ryan Harris body set? These are just vacuum formed tubs so pretty easy. Imagine the possibilities!

"I can tell they didn't look at a color wheel". Indeed and a lot of 'pro' painters - perhaps thats more down to customer request however, but it is amazing how many car bodies colors just don't work well together.

It's too bad you didn't showcase the "kit" body on the white background like you did your "pro" body. Setting it on a rustic table definitely makes it scream "not pro". It might have been an ease of production choice on your part, but it definitely created a class distinction between the two no matter how much you lauded the kit look in your dialogue.
