Just got this today so far so good loving it the bass knocks for sure just wish the surround speakers would be a little louder but it still does the job and you can notice the differences with them on and off i still recommend

I purchased Nova S70 from Amazon UK a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the sound quality was way below my expectation. Also there was no surround effect at all. So I had to return it on the same day. I think it’s better to invest in a well known brand instead of this cheap stuff.

If you want a real surround then you have to buy a REAL surround like 5.1 or 7.1. No brand will give you an effect even remotely close to the true classic old surround sound with 6 or 8 speakers.

Interesting I bought the s50 apollo soundbar with the tower speakers that separate, and for some reason it sounds like crap, very tinny and the base is weak, but my phaenoo soundbar for half the price blows this soundbar away! Why??????

What do you think about the rear speakers? They are way more smaller then D60 speakers, I doubt they could sound better.

Oct 2024...Just got this yesterday off Amazon $299 US. Ste it up and for a $300 rig? It is GREAT. Solid bass lines, more than adequate mid/high tones. Not going to confused with a $3000 Yamaha AV + Infiinity speaker system BUT, 1/10th the cost too.

True, Optical doesn't support Dolby ATMOS, but he's probably getting the streaming service from another source, such as a later Amazon FIRESTICK plugged into the HDMI "HDIN" port. This configuration is used when older smart TVs don't support ATMOS, as the later FIRESTICKs do. He could also have used eARC out to connect the TV in place of using an Optical cable for the visual component.

Hi! What are your experiences with rear and up-firing speakers? According to several opinions, they are barely audible.

I just had mine come today I thought it sounded awful. Rear speakers are very quiet, lots of feedback through the subwoofer and the soundbar itself sounds like they’ve used 10 pound speakers they’re so tinny. There’s no custom equaliser so you can’t even adjust the sound levels to your personal listening experience. I really wouldn’t recommend this if you’re a bit of an audiophile. I find it near unusable which is a shame because I was really looking forward to receiving it :(

@@BayAreaBikeLife they wouldn’t do a return they just offered me money off so I’m stuck with it for now. If you’re on a budget I’d go with Sonys budget surround system. I had their old one and was wicked for the price

You wont get dolby atmos with optical, thats a terrible spot for a subwoofer

Atmos is only through hdmi, optical doesn't support Atmos at all.

Thanks, mate. To be honest I had to research about your query. I found this: Dolby Atmos does not require you to use HDMI eARC. Dolby Atmos can be transmitted through HDMI eARC’s older brother, the HDMI ARC. However, it is important to note that using HDMI eARC can, and probably will, improve the quality of audio and allow for more audio formats to be transmitted. Hey mate. Well, in my opinion both are similar with slightly different features. The S80 has more power and it has those 2 firing up speakers. The D80 its a 7.1 channel and it supports the Ultimea App with more EQ features. The Subwoofer on the S80 its bigger. I'd say sound quality, for the money, is very good on both IMO.

@rikosrikos4592 i understand your pain mate 😂 id say the firing up speakers are not super strong. The s80 has more power tho. Design wise, is bigger but slim, which I like. 👍🏻 I do like this s80!… I leave it up to you to decide 😂

Hello again I have and d60 and now i have this s80 But i noticed that the d 60 is more powerful than s80.is this normal?for example at d60 at level 12 the sound is so loud and of rear speakers But at s 80 i must go to level 30/40 to listen good and the rear, do you believe that maybe i have received a problematic material?

Great video and I'm in uk waiting for it to show up on amazon but I'm really tempted to buy directly from ultimea. Like others have pointed out optical won't give you dolby atmos you need to be on earc hdmi then try you're Movie again I'm sure you will get better results.

Thanks mate! According to Ultimea it should be available in Amazon mid to late March. I believe I’ve tried both optical and earc in the video, but yeah, the majority was optical. I had a little play again with the soundbar this morning and those top speakers work on both optical and eArc. I’m not an audiophile tbh, and again, I can’t notice a lot of difference between both. It might have to do with the scene…

I've been to website and it's showing a s90 as coming soon as it was shown at ces in the states in late February and it will have even more speakers. I'll get the s80 though as I'm sure it will do for my films and gaming.

I bought the Ultimea Poseidon D50 a week ago n I found that the subwoofer did not hv the thumping bass sounds n rear speakers r weak, therefore I returned it n wrote to Ultimea about it n they recommended the Nova S80 which u just reviewed. See that the subwoofer has up to level 5 compared to level 2 of the D50, n u did mentioned that your neighbour would b complaining, intake it the subwoofer produces much better sound? How about the rear speakers, louder n better sound? Thanks

I never had a change to try the D50. I'm very happy with the subwoofer on this S80. The rear speakers, in comparison to the D60, I think they are more predominant. They dont produce a very loud sound but they are more noticeable. You can definitely fell when you turn the surround on and off. Hope this helps!

From what I've seen as reviews, the D60 seems better, the S80 is much more expensive and less powerful than the D60, and apparently the central soundbar and bass of the Nova S80 are much worse than the D60. I don't really know, but in any case that's what I've seen. There is not a single person who has switched from the D60 to the Nova S80 who says good things about it. So I conclude that the D60 is better, even by far

Je confirme que le son de la barre centrale est juste merdique !! On dirait une vielle radio po/go qui sort un son affreux. J ai du la renvoyer illico chez ultimea. Meme apres une mise a jour v 1.42 le son est toujours aussi mauvais. La majorité des youtubeurs qui font la primo de cette barre devraient se laver les oreilles avant de raconter n importe quoi et donner des commentaires fabuleux. Cette barre est juste merdique a eviter absolument.

What a piece of junk. The S80 has no bass and the sound is terrible. I got the S80 as a replacement for the D60 because the rear speakers blew and stopped working. The D60 out performance the S80 hands down with crazy bass and sound. The S80 has a 8” Subwoofer but yet it has no bass even at the bass level set to +6 The D60 only has a 5” Subwoofer and boy does it have bass rocks my hole living room. Don’t believe the people reviewing it on KZbin there payed to give it a good review.

Complete garbage. I purchased the S 80 off Amazon and sent it back within a few days was not satisfied with the sound quality whatsoever. It literally sounds like a dollar store speaker. There is no bass it’s priced for 400 Canadian not worth it.
