🦌 Join us on an incredible journey through the seasons as look at the cycle of whitetail buck's antler growth and intricately tied to their testosterone levels! 🌿
📅 Here's what you can expect:
Spring (April - May): Witness the beginning of the antler growth cycle as testosterone levels rise with the changing of the seasons.
Summer (June - August): Dive into the summer months when antlers really start to take shape. Discover the key factors affecting the size and shape of antlers.
Fall (September - November): Follow the bucks as they enter the rut, and learn how testosterone surges impact their behavior and antler development.
Winter (December - February): As winter sets in, testosterone levels drop, and bucks shed their antlers.
Throughout the video, we'll use my sketches and informative graphics to illustrate the changes month by month.
Whether you're a seasoned hunter, wildlife enthusiast, or just curious about how a bucks antlers grow, this video offers an eye-opening look at the science behind how it happens.

I had no idea Bucks lost their horns every year and the progression of growing them back. I can’t believe I didn’t know that or heard that before when I live in a vast hunting area. I am simply amazed and I can’t wait to tell everyone and educate them.

I thought I knew it all after hunting for over 20 years. Yet I’ve learned something new from every single one of your videos. Thanks for the content and cheers from Texas!

This is a good general overview of growth. But I still haven't found out how and why the antlers actually take their shape.

Such beautiful art!! You do such amazing work!! But I do have a question: the way the antlers first form look very different in how I see "salad forks" being very straight spikes, unless this is all showing the growth of a standard mature buck. Still wonderful work! ❤❤❤ Greetings from Saskatchewan!

The sketches in this video would represent growth in a more mature deer in a year time span vs antler growth over the course of a bucks entire life...thanks for the question!!

Great video, and you make some beautiful art! Quick question. The first buck I killed had a “unicorn” “antler” growing out of his forehead. It wasn’t much of a point, but it protruded enough to consider it a point. How in the world does that happen?

So will a buck grow the same pair of antlers every year?
@crepitus3552
@crepitus3552 10 ай бұрын
no, the antlers gain points and thickness each year of the bucks life, they may top out somewhere, but a one year old buck is often called a spike because he's going to have 1 single spike antler, a 2 year old is often called a fork because.. yep, the antlers develop into their first 2 points with a fork below where they split (on each side), each year progressively getting bigger and more individual tines on the beam.

They do not typically approach humans, and their hearing is so well developed that it’s hard to even see one before they flee from hearing footsteps. However, they can more or less dare themselves to approach a porch or a yard out of curiosity or if they can find food, but the human has to be non-visible, otherwise they will keep their distance. They’re best caught on camera when no person is around to scare them away.
