The ether is due to the low compression. Ether will light off at a very low temp which with the low compression helps to get the cylinder temp up enough to start hitting on all cylinders. It's not uncommon for a race diesel to be in the 12.5:1 compression range. They don't light off quickly with compression that low.

Michael King most heavy duty commercial diesel engines are in the 13:1 to 16:1 Caterpillar/Cummins. High performance diesels in tractorpull or racing are like 8-10: 1 but 4 turbos and 300psi boost

What you're saying isn't correct.

I would guess the compression is lower than 12.5 , probably closer to 9.5- 10 .0.

This was also with a SIGMA 17mm pump. It's a tractor pulling pump, they have poor control of the injection cycle at low RPM. Destroked common rain engines idle and build boost much better and more controlled.

If I remember correctly, their datalog of the truck showed 1500 more rpms than the dyno read. They spun real hard

What's with the either? Is that how hard it is to spool up? I'd say that's about worthless in the real world.
@willonthegrill94746 жыл бұрын
kyle edwards well it is a completely dedicated race truck... it’s made from the ground up to make it down the track not down the street
@Sir.VicsMasher5 жыл бұрын
[The real world...] This is a race truck at a competition going for the win, has nothing to do with real world driving just like F1, NASCAR, Monster Trucks, Formula Off Road, etc. The ether is used to get the race engine up to temperature especially during a timed event.
@taylorraber73205 жыл бұрын
In this scenario the ether was used specifically to spool the truck. The sigma pump on the truck delivers so much fuel, you cant just rev through it without killing the chargers and stalling the truck

The engine is goof for WHAT, takes minutes to spool up with enough pollution for a small city!
