It was BAND-MAID, and Kanami in particular, that finally caused me to actually begin learning the guitar after about 45 years of wanting to play. I've been playing about five months now and I'm learning B.O.C.'s "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," although it will be a the radio version without Buck Dharma's amazing solo. It's also Kanami's fault that I had to buy a PRS. I couldn't be happier with the guitar or this band. Every day before I pick up my guitar I listen to two random songs from two specific bands for motivation and inspiration. Those bands are this one, BAND-MAID and the other is Lovebites. Sometimes, I throw some Mary's Blood into the mix as well as Saki is the best provider of guitar motivation that I know. Thank you for reacting to these amazing ladies.

They have two other equally good released instrumentals. Without Holding Back is from their most recent album, but is not on the KZbin version of the album. Don't Be Long (on Spotify) has this cool lead riff where the kick drum is integrated into the melody of the riff, which I find incredibly cool. One of the things I love about this band is how hard they work to really integrate all the instruments (including vocals) together cohesively.
@Equilibrium29033 жыл бұрын
As much as I love these, especially Onset and Without holding back, the Giovanni instrumental has the 1st place on my personal list firmly in its grip. Its just so good. Testament to how good they are, that they can just cut out the vocals of a song and it becomes an instrumental masterpiece.

Certain parts of this instrumental remind me of old school rock, which I love. The lead guitarist, Kanami, is the composer of Band-Maid's songs. She has sited several inspirations such as Santana and Eddie Van Halen. After EVH passed away, she penned a goodbye letter on Twitter, I believe, stating how much his music meant to her, especially his tapping prowess.

The lead guitar sound is better here as it's from the Zepp Tokyo show. The live Domination one you did was from Line Cube Shibuya. I (and many others) wondered where the guitar went as well. There is a Sound Engineer who did a reaction (a fans request who had the same question) to a track from there (i think PLAY) and he explained the problem with the acoustics at that place. Also with Misa's solo bass part she starts off with pick and then hides the pick in the crook of her index finger to slap, very quick how she does it.

You maybe interested know. Band-Maid have a several instrumentals that they play during live sets. "ONSET" was the first one and they only played during their live concerts; it gives Saiki some rest time for her voice. They never released the song on a CD for a while. At the time, this clip from the 2018 Zepp Tokyo Concert was the ONLY time they had it on any kind of media. Then, in early 2019, they released two singles "Bubble" and "Glory" as individual CD or as a 2-pack bundle. And they issued "ONSET" as a bonus CD disc ONLY with the 2-pack set. Needless to say, the 2pack set were all sold out and can only be found on the 2ndary markets like ebay or via proxy buyer from Japan. They usually go for over $60 or more right now; they were much cheaper when new. But, the mother of the prize - 2018 Zepp Tokyo Concert DISC is a bonus disc for the single "Start Over" (with only 2 songs) issued in 2018. That one is also over around $400 on ebay. The other absolutely awesome concert is from their 2017 Shinkiba Studio COAST concert which was a bonus disc (bluray, DVD) for their full album "World Domination". Again, only can be found on the secondary market for over $400. Those two concert DISCs are packed full of amazing performances. They are just amazing. And the sound engineering is just out of the world. I would say superior to the newer concert set from their 2020 LINE CUBE Shibuya Disc - concert only.

Ryan! Greetings from under Mount Fuji! Unfortunately the link I sent you the other day has been removed! Looking around in any case. A word about Miku: This tiny girl is really tough! I could not believe my eyes the other day when I watched in a fan (Wladimir Chupin, probably!) video of a live concert in a small club in Germany. She simply asked the crowd to part and walked in between two solid packs of burly German men at least one foot taller than her! She stopped in their middle and exclaimed: So big!, So big!". Those same fans had a hard time for all their foolish grins to contain each other lest they physically crushed her. Simply incredible love and respect from their fans! She climbed back onto the stage without a single hand even trying to touch her... They are all like that actually: Kanami lost a shoe into the crowd by going too near them during one of her solos. Saiki also lost a shoe inside a Japanese fan audience. When it comes to Misa, I hold the suspicion that fans would be really afraid if she ventured into the crowd and same for Akane! LOL Nice end of the year to you and all your dear ones! Robert-Gilles

Because it appears as though they must be enjoying it just as much as you are. Their song Play was also supposed to be an instrumental, but Saiki loved the song so much that she asked Miku to write lyrics for it, something simple that the crowd would be able to participate with, because they're quite aware of the language barrier. They have an official live on their channel which is spectacular!!

Excellent reaction and commentary... Your comments about discovering Nightwish, Band Maid and other incredible bands really highlighted for me the absolute lack of quality rock coming out of America.. if GVF is the best we got.. that's pretty sad, IMO.. the corporatization of the American music industry has not been good for independent up and coming artists...

Flat out the best all female band in the world. The level of each member’s expertise is top shelf elite. And together they are tight AF.

A certain MR EDDIE VAN HALEN would be impressed with KANAMI'S tapping technique. Originally, Kanami played Addictone guitars but once she was noticed, she’s been PRS all the way! Kanami- PRS / Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier + 8 or 9 different pedals Miku- Zemaitis Custom / EVH 5150 (EDDIE VAN HALEN) stack + various pedals MISA- Black Cloud custom 5 string bass / Orange stack Akane- Drum Kit: Tama Star Bubinga, Snare Drum: Ludwig, Cymbals: Zildjian (left to right) Oh, by the way- JIMMY PAGE OF (LED ZEPPELIN) loves BAND-MAID, enough said....

I think Sir Edward would be absolutely THRILLED with BAND-MAID, honestly.

Yip, welcome to the band maid rabbit hole. You miiiight want to listen to wonderland live if you want a change of pace. It's a bit of a slower song, but it's a masterpiece composition wise.

Ryan! Sorry, I couldn't stop watching his particular reaction again and the following rant is probably a repeat! LOL Actually, Onset will be in the future considered as their first real classic as it reveals a whole band maturity and start to real stardom! To think it is already more than 3 years old! In particular, Miku has come of age and can afford, politely and an endearing/mischievous grin, to point her middle finger under the nose of her detractors and haters. Her rhythmic work is nothing of the common. Whereas the other members show an easy virtuosity, she is the epitome of the intensity and passion of the whole band! I have recently entertained the notion she might be the one to surprise us with her evolution in 2022! I am sure she and they have put something into her sleeve! We shall see! lol Best regards, Robert-Gilles

Not sure whats happening but your mix coming through to us listeners I thought at first was kinda muted, like too much mid-range. Then after your first stop-restart it was terrible, like someone threw a blanket over my speakers, then the next stop-start was good and the highs are where they should be and it was good to the end. That happened on another one of your videos, not bitching just thought you should know. Heal up soon.

I appreciate it, it must have been something during editing that I missed. 😉
