I've been to Wave Rock, and I can confirm that it isn't just a clever camera angle. It honest-to-goodness looks just like it looks in photos - a massive wave. Harold Holt Base is hardly miles away from anywhere as it is just north of the town of Exmouth in Western Australia. As a side note, Exmouth is near to Cape Range National Park which features some of the best beaches in the country: check out Turquoise Bay for instance. The base is indeed just a communications base, the layout is necessitated because of the very low frequencies it transmits at, mostly to underwater submarines. As for Wittenoom, it is no longer officially listed as a town and only 2-6 people (depending on which list you believe) remain living there effectively off-grid as all services to the town site were cut when it was "killed" as a township officially. Blue asbestos is a fire retardant so was used in just about everything that could get hot, like car brakes, as a fire retardant in buildings, trains and such like. It was commonly used in asbestos fencing. It has killed many thousands of people. There are many pink lakes in Australia of which Lake Hillier is perhaps the best known, although hard to get to as it is offshore. There are easier ones to get to in Western Australia.

yes ryan . rain water is better than tap water . theres no metals or fluoride or chlorine . and the small amount of contaminants in it are harmless . and can be removed by simple filtration .
@grandmothergoose
@grandmothergoose 2 жыл бұрын
Except that most rain water collected comes from people's rooftops, and birds poop on roof tops, which means most household collected rainwater contains potentially harmful bacteria and viruses, which filtration won't remove. In a fresh water lake or river, animals drink, pee, poop, and sometimes die and decay in it, and it can contain metals and other pollutants from the ground around it, including pollution run off from nearby areas, again, not the best water to be drinking without treating it properly first. And there very well can be metals and other pollutants in rain water straight from the sky. In some parts of the world where air pollution is very high, the pollutants make the rain water rather acidic and in some cases even mildly toxic. I'd rather take my chances with proven to be safe very low levels of fluoride and chlorine than the unknown potential pollutants in untreated water of any kind.

About the limestone under Shell Beach. Shells are calcium carbonate and that particular limestone is purely the shells crushed under the accumulation of their own weight. Most beach sand is made up of quartz and silica from eroded rock and crushed shell only makes up a small proportion of sand.

Wave Rock... I have been there several times. Its a little over 4 hours (maybe 4.5 hours depending on how you drive) out of Perth. Its just down the road from my mother's place (she lives about 120KM away from the rock... so yea just down the road in Aussie country speak). The wave portion on the rock formation is actually quite small, but it is 5.2 meters to the top of the wave and about 50-60 metres long and about 22 meters to the top of the rock formation, when the wind blows, if you listen carefully it actually sounds like you are at the beach at night, it sounds like waves crashing in the distance. There is a water catchment dam in the rock formation that supplies surrounding towns. About 1KM away from the wave rock portion is the other end of the formation called Hippo's Yawn, which is a granite rock formation that looks like a hippo yawning. 17KM down the road from Wave Rock is where you will find another granite rock formation called The Humps, this is where Mulka's Cave is, and you can walk the Humps as well was Wave Rock. The Humps however have a GPS elevation of about 82 meters (I compared my GPS height at the carpark for the Humps to my GPS height at the top of the formation), on a good day in late Spring (Late Sept through late October mostly), you can see 360 degrees in every direction for many kilometers and see the various crop types and colours of crops. There are little orange and black lizzards at both Wave Rock and The Humps, they are seen easier at The Humps as less people go there. They are about 10CM long and will run away from people if they get too close. Very hard to see as they are basically the same colour as the rock face itself. Good place to go if you ever find yourself in Perth, Australia and dont mind taking a short drive. :) The guy is also a bit wrong on how far out it is. Maybe as the crow flies its 300KM, but its more like 330-350KM out by Road, depends on the exact route you take though, below is about the quickest and most direct route. You travel from Perth, South South East via Brookton (~135KM from Perth CBD), then on to Corrigin (89KM from Brookton), then to Kondinin (about 45KM from Corrigin), then on to Hyden (65KM from Kondinin), and from there its about 5-6KM east of Hyden main town.

The purpose of a hexagon is to have 6 equal sides, which makes intellectually devoid humans make up all sorts of conspiratorial reasons why it exists and what it means. It's well known what makes Hillier Lake pink - the microorganisms that live in it. It's not the only pink lake in Australia, just the most well-known. Rain and clouds don't filter pollutants, they collect them and drop them to the ground in the form of acid rain, which is much less of a problem for Australia than most other places, except when our skies are full of bushfire smoke.

Lake McKenzie is a 'perched' lake, which means it contains only rainwater, no groundwater, is not fed by streams and does not flow to the ocean. The sand and organic matter at the base of the lake form an impervious layer, preventing rainwater from draining away. The sand here is pure, white silica and is not only beautiful to look at but feels beautifully soft to walk on. The sand acts as a filter, giving the water its clarity and helping to make the water so pure it can support very little life.

The hexagon shape is for communicating with submarines it uses very low frequencies that can penetrate the water and it uses a lot of power as well. It can also communicate through space to satellites.. however because its very low frequency it can't send a lot of data only very slow messages .. slow as morse code .. and simple commands. it also only sends cant really receive.. so it sends comands like Hey sub we need to talk.. and the sub surfaces to "talk"

Karangi isn't near Bicentennial park it's near Rhodes, it's in the Parramatta River so if you were to go to Ryder Blvd and look out across the river toward parra you'd be looking in the correct direction Nowhere near Bicentennial Park so toward Parra perhaps the Homebush, Lidcombe area

The narrator sounds a bit drunk in places 🤔☺️ As for Uluru, it's even more amazing close up, with craters, crevices and even a waterfall (yeah, a waterfall in the desert!) Climbing was banned altogether a few years back. The narrator got a couple of names wrong. Coober "Pedy" is pronounced "peedy". "Fraser" Island is pronounced the way it's spelled, not "Frasier".

I think the narrator was American. His “Aussie” accent sounded very suspicious and he pronounced many places incorrectly.

Uluru is the remnants of a folded mass of land - back in the day, it was a sea bed and then it was folded by tectonic forces, which is why it has those vertical lines - they are layers that once were horizontal. The shirt is funny mate, I like it.

We have a lot of great sites in Australia, trouble is they are all a million miles apart, if you are on Holidays you have to pick ONE and leave it at that, Trying to visit the Great Barrier Reef, Ayers Rock and the Pink lake all in one Holiday would be impossible, even if you had your own Private Jet you still wouldn't be able to stay long enough to enjoy it, It is BY FAR the greatest country on Earth in which to live your life!

I live in Mount Gambler South Australia where Umpherston Sink hole is located. The walls of the sinkhole has many little crevices and at night time little Ringtail Possums come out to be fed by visitors. Our possums are marsupials that have pouches for babies. Cute. The area is volcanic and features many sink holes and caves. Quite beautiful. You should check out our Blue Lake. It is iconic, quite beautiful and there should be info about it on th ne, maybe KZbin

harold e holt comms center is/was a ultra low frequency antenna array designed to send signals to submarines underwater. the wavelength needed is so huge that each antenna has to be like a kilometer long. I know this because i was a radio operator on submarines. its been all but decommissioned because satcoms are now preferred as means of comms.

Happy Arvo Ryan, a few corrections... yes, sadly, all rainwater is polluted; since the advent of chemicals used in farming etc, many chemicals evaporate with H2O, proving this happened when they have found DDT in Antarctica, it has never been used there. Also, Cooper Pedy is pronounced Cooper Pee Dee... not 'peddy'. Been there ...for one night! Sky looks great, but don't wander around at night, so many drilling holes you can literally disappear, takes a long time to find you... there are signs! The pink lake... one scratch and all that salt is gonna hurt you! I've never heard of anyone swimming in it... and that is the only attraction there! Better to go see the adorable quokkas! seee yaah!
