I was an American born and raised, husband and I moved our family to Australia 27 years ago. We became Australian citizens and were dual US/AUS for years, this year my husband and I officially renounced our USA citizenship, it was a pricey process, but the benefits for us was worth it. Our children (32,30,27&20) are still dual, but may want to renounce when it becomes beneficial to them. Best decision we ever made was moving to Australia, so proud to call Australia home.

Compulsory voting gives you a much more representative sample of the general population hopes and desires. If your going to show up at a polling station, you should ensure that your vote is legitimate. Its the democratic right of any free citizen. If you treat voting as a joke, don't ever complain about the Government, because you threw away your rights to have your say as part of a free democracy. Many global citizens have no democratic voting rights and live under dictatorships, with no hope of change. Be careful, voting apathy is a slippery slope.

Also a pleasure to help those who come from communist countries too cos they've also never voted before. And I love to tell folks how free and fair our elections are!! We all get a say and whoever turns up as being the government is the government the majority has chosen. Then we get another say a few years later. So fair!!

Pronunciation: - Port Macquarie: Port Mack-worrey - Uluru: ŌŌL-oo-roo (emphasis on the first syllabul) - Gravox: Gray-vox (like gravy) We call white gravy "white sauce" and its made with milk and conflour with salt and pepper. And we put this on cauliflour and spuds or corned silveraide. Brown gravy goes on lamb and beef and pork (we normally do pork with applesauce though) You CAN get chicken gravy tho which is white-ish. People show up to vote, but "donkey votes" are common. And the fine for not showing up is like only $50. Suprised nobody called cigarettes "durries" Tax on smokes in Australia is horrendous. Wasnt til I worked for home affairs that I realized how massive the tobacco black market is to avoid paying a weeks wage per packet.

There was one biscuit that must of been made every few weeks as it had such a distictive smell. Brockhoff was taken over by Arnotts in the 1960's. The closed factory site was turned into a housing estate and the main road in the estate was named Brockhoff Drive in respect of the former factory that operated there from 1953-2002.

Hi Ryan, Australia's time zones are actually kind of crazy and might be worth their own video. Right now we have three main time zones: Australian Eastern Standard time (AEST) in QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC and TAS = GMT+10, Australian Central Standard time (ACST) in SA and NT = GMT +9:30 (yes, 1/2 hour difference) and Australian Western Standard Time (AWST) in WA = GMT+8. It becomes pretty confusing in summer: Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) in NSW, ACT, VIC and TAS = GMT+11, Australian Central Daylight Time (ACDT) in SA = GMT+10:30, AEST in QLD = GMT+10, ACST in NT = GMT+9:30 and AWST in WA = GMT+8. There are also quite a few oddities, including: Broken Hill, a town in western NSW that runs on SA time, Australian Central Western Standard Time (ACWST), which is an unofficial time zone which covers a smallish (at least in comparison to the size of WA) patch of the southwestern corner of WA and a roadhouse in far western SA = GMT+8:45, Lord Howe Island, a small island in the Pacific Ocean which is owned by NSW and observes Lord Howe Standard Time (LHST) = GMT+10:30, so 30 mins ahead of its parent state, but the equivalent daylight savings time (Lord Howe Daylight Time, LHDT) is the same as that in NSW (GMT+11), and the Australian external dependencies of Norfolk (another small island in the Pacific Ocean) Time (NFT) = GMT+11, Christmas Island (an island in the Indian Ocean) Time (CXT) = GMT+7 and Cocos Islands (a small chain of islands in the Indian Ocean) Time (CCT) = GMT+6:30.

If you register to vote the Government has to ensure you get a ballot, you need to turn up to get a ballot (or return the ballot if by mail) to let them know you got the ballot. @helenbartoszek243 is correct - yes she speaks the truth re how proper gravy is created. However if you really are pushed for time = Gravox Supreme is far better than ordinary Gravox. There is no "white gravy" When I eat grilled fish I like to add Tartare sauce which is white and is a savoury sort of mayonaise AND that is NOT a form of gravy Further to there is no "white gravy" BUT there is something else and when I reveal my utter distaste for this other so called "culinary delight" MANY may disagree with me. They can disagree, does not bother me. So here it is, below, a horrible product and it is an item that I totally detest what is called a "white sauce" - It is like that horrible thing made of flour and water before better glues were invented. And as I DETEST white sauce it also means I can also avoid that other VILE "food treat"????? . . . . .. drum roll, . . . it's a culinary delight that looks like white vomit with a few bit of peas an sweetcorn swirling around in the gutter . Yes, you have probably guessed it . . . . yes open a can of tuna, add some tinned peas and some tinned sweetcorn swirling around in a white sauce with a handful of grated cheese to give it "flavour" Many will be familiar with name of this horrible creation called a "tuna mornay" Yes many foolish people have told me "Ah! but you haven't tasted "MY mournay" They need not bother . No matter how you "dress up" tuna mornay to me - it will always look like vomit to me. And "white sauce" anything " will always get a "No thanks" from me. It always still looks like VOMIT to me

Gravox has many different varieties, Traditional, Roast Meat, Chicken, Lamb & Rosemary... The ones I normally use just put (freshly) boiled water in a mug & a few teaspoons of the gravy powder in & stir streat away, let rest for a minute, & stir before serving. But others like the BEST Roast Chicken (in a box) only works in cold water in a saucepan & stirring constantly until bubbling (I don't use that one much, cause I rarely do a roast chicken in my oven, more often than it's either roast lamb or pork.) 🤤🤤

Real white sauce is made from a roux, which is melted butter, mix in flour, and cook a little then gradually add milk. It will thicken while heating. I’ve made it at least once a week for 35 years as a base for many white sauce based dishes.

Apart from what you mentioned re nicotine (specially in young brains), vapes can cause EVALI resulting in permanent lung injury or death, there are also concerns about what other toxic chemicals are in the product specifically since many come from overseas and are unmonitored and if you vape and smoke your risks increase greatly :) I am over being a second hand smoker!

Hello from Port Macquarie, New South Wales (NSW)! Nice to know our town is famous ha ha! No, we’re not all rich here … but it is a beautiful large beach town on the East Coast of Australia (the region is called the Mid North Coast). Kangaroos and koalas are quite common here - there’s an amazing local koala hospital and a zoo located here as well. We also see Redback spiders and Funnelweb spiders upon occasion. Several species of sharks are common, but you won’t see a croc in our local waters. It’s a great place to visit! 😀

My mum's school friend got a job in a lolly and chocolate shop, and was told that they could eat as much as they wanted. 3 days later they were sick of sugary goodness. The same would apply on the biscuit line, after a week of scoffing biscuits like the cookie monster you would end up sick of them. TMC - tailor made cigarettes... RYO - roll your own - loose leaf tobacco. The colours and descriptions aren't about the level of harm it's about the harshness of the smoke which can range from smooth or mild up to vicious lung scratching strengths..

I have been in some of the most remote places. You can just make out that the spiral arm (black line) of the milky way. You can see it from anywhere with no light pollution, though its position might change slightly depending on the time of year ect. These pictures are sort of photoshopped, not cut and paste, they are real photographs, but they are processed. And the light is amplified by long exposure. This is not what you would see with your eye, but if your'e good at photos, and taking still shots for 30+ seconds, and good at image processing you can make a photo like this. Thats why youll see most peoples milky way photos have different colours.

It opens up people who are disengaged to just guess, and it also means people who don't dig deep on what the polical parties each are bringing to the table, will be swayed by bias portrayal through the media - media in Australia is often heavily influenced by the like of the Packers and Murdochs etc, money and wealth etc...

Voting is compulsory in Australia but you have a choice. The government will threaten to fine you if you don't vote but I know several Aussies who chose to stop voting and all that happened is they have been removed from the electoral roll, so if they decide to vote at some point, they need to re-enroll. Americans go on about how democratic the US is but then half of them don't vote and they are not legally required to, which seems hypocritical.

Aussies are so used to being able to walk around our cities safely at all times of day and night, habits are hard to break and it's easy to forget how relative personal safety is. Paris is a generally safe city, it's just not quite as safe as most areas of most Aussie cities. Tell an Aussie a city is safe, and we may attempt to do things that locals would consider insanely dangerous.

They said that after a few days, no-one ate any. ;-) I suspect that's a real time exposure photo. Most northern hemispherians can't believe what the Milky Way looks like from the southern hemisphere. And no white gravy. Yes - they have to put the local content on the pack. Great news about better smoking restrictions. We now have one of the lowest smoking rates in the world - about 11%.
