Something that has struck me listening to these lectures about Tolkien's life is the input of mostly unknown teachers upon his young life. If it had not been for their encouragement, good teaching methods and seeing in him such potential, his life may have taken a very different turn. And we would all be much the poorer for it! And yet for Lewis, things seemed to be opposite. His educational experience could have turned him off of school/learning completely! I just find this a fascinating contrast.

8:35 - Awesome video, but I had to comment about this. The critique is correct, but _"wherefore"_ is more like "why", or "for what purpose" as in: why is this hot dude I just met, of all possible families, a Montague; the mortal enemy of my family? He should "Deny thy father and refuse thy _name_" or if he won't give up his family name, she will give up her own name and "no longer be a Capulet" if he swears his love. After all, "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other word would smell as sweet?" At this point in the play, Romeo is listening and wondering "Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?", but Juliet is still unaware of his presence, so a "what are you doing here?" interpretation makes no sense.

Edith Bratt Tolkien died before J.R.R. and when she died he had the name "Luthien" put on her grave and then when he died the name "Beren" was put on his grave as well in reference to what would be in The Silmarillion in 1977

I love Tolkien so much that when you mentioned that the manuscripts might have been lost to us if not for Lewis actually gave me a chill! Great lecture, I wish I could attend, I feel my true life has been lost. I wonder if Tolkien ever learned Hebrew? and how He felt about The World being spoken into existence if not in a way "Sung" into existence.

You also haven't mentioned, or maybe I missed it, whether Lewis choosing the Ransom character in His Space Trilogy was derived from Tolkien.
