I don't know where I got the idea to just wrap the lead around the hitching post, but I've been doing that for a while now and it works great. The blocker is super awesome too! Thanks for the lesson!

Interesting tips, admit I've tied horses since I was young so for over 35 years and as much as I've had horses spook when tied I've never had to cut a rope whilst using a quick release knot it's always come undone even if I've had to pull hard on it due to them spooking, think the thing that worries me the most is these knots would take a lot longer to release than a quick release would especially if the horse was pulling back at the time. Thanks again for the video

Thank you so much!! I have a young horse who has been setting back and this is very useful as we tie with the first knot you showed us.

What with camping? The campground we are going to only has hitching posts. What would be the best tie?

There are carabiners that have rollers that snug up over the clip part to prevent horses from self-piercing their silly lips.

I like to use the bank robber's knot. If you need to get your horse loose, one yank and you are both free to go on your way, no unwrapping the rope from around the pole.

Yes, the bank robber knot is one I use a lot. Do you use it in the trailer?
@daniel_moretti
@daniel_moretti 3 жыл бұрын
@@gerrycoleman7290 Yes, I don't trailer much but when I do I use it. I even use it when crosstieing him if there is something I can tie his lead rope to. I clip one of the crosstie ropes to the ring on his halter under the chin that the lead rope clips on to. I leave the lead rope clipped on to that, and use a bank robber's knot to attach the lead rope to the other crosstie. Why? Because if I have to get him off quickly I yank downward on the lead rope and then undo the quick release on the crosstie rope. This way only have to futz with one quick release and my horse is free from the crossties but I still have control of him because I'm holding the lead rope which is still attached to his halter.

One wants to teach a horse to give to pressure. Then teach him to tie. The horse must be tied to a secure tie point. The horse needs to know that pulling is the wrong answer. If he pulls and can get away. He has learned a bad lesson. If he pulls and realizes that pulling gets him nowhere, he will stop pulling.

We in Europe do not park our Horses as if they are cars. We use halters made of leather an extra broad and padded on the neck. The Horses necks are super sensitive and they can break neck vertebra. Easily. WE dont want your tortyre rope with knots halters and Never Ever tie them up with them. Put those on your own Face and Jank. We tie our young ones short in their stall. AND Speak to them. We humans have voices and words which they Learn and trust. We Help them also by having a Wall behind them

@@gerrycoleman7290 NO. We have a Long tradition with Horses. We dont see them as dangerous or wild. We dont Break Horses. We interact with them since birth. Only experienced persons shall train young Horses. Young rider shall LEARN from experienced older horses. You dont become a skilled horseman by watching videos. Ive seen many scary dangerous approaches when children tries to do as their American gurus. Chasing Well behaved Horses and yanking i The SHARP HALTER. Many broken Bones, Medical helicopter rides and dead horses. You should try it on Your face. Draft Horses dont pull Heavy loads by the head for a reason. Halters brake before The neck does today. Rope doesnt break.

You don't speak for Europe. You speak for yourself -- that's it. OK so you don't like rope halters. There are plenty of people in the US who don't like rope halters either. It's not a US/Europe thing; it's a personal thing. I myself wouldn't hard tie any horse, regardless of the halter; I use the Blocker tie ring on the second level and that's all I've ever needed.

@@lauralauren6432 Your contributions of sweeping generalizations and off the wall assumptions aren't adding to the dialogue in any meaningful way. Just so you know that.
