I have been with you since day one on this project. You have never lost your temper ever. And have been so methodical. I am rooting for you to have the least bit of problems on completion. How you found one with no rust is a miracle especially living in the east.

Thanks Ryan! It’s looking great, like a brand new 1973 Camaro! I can’t wait to hear and see you fire the engine up and light them up!

Should be able to fire it up soon!

Really nice work Ryan. Seems you’re taking care to eliminate the little misalignments and other fiddly stuff that will stare at you every time you’re in the car. 👍👍

Always love watching your videos. I still have trouble believing that a guy your age actually cares so much about doing it right. Keep it up! Can't wait to see what that engine produces!

The Z looks great Ryan. Smart move having the machine shop handle more. Your engine is the heart of the car and you want it in perfect condition once you drop it in.

Awesome work Ryan. Can’t wait to see that engine on the Dyno. Great job on the dash. Glad to see you kept the factory dash pad. The reproduction dash pad from OER is junk. I here NPD has a repop dash pad now too, think I am going to try that when i finally get around to getting mine repainted. Wish I had kept my factory dash. When you replaced the shifter boot. Did you keep or replaces the heavy rubber seal under the carpet? I didn’t see it in the video. It helps keel engine fumes and water out of the car, it also dampens the vibration on the shifter handle. Also glad to see you replaced the blow out clips I mentioned. Wish I was making as much progress on mine as you have made on yours.
@RyanSampsonRPh3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Shad! You will have to let me know how that NPD one looks. I cleaned up that thick piece of rubber and kept it under the boot. I actually forgot about it the first time and had to take everything out again to put it in so maybe this was when I didn’t realize it was missing yet 😬

Impressed Bryan for real. Beautiful work. I may have missed it but what is your background? Really beautiful. Better than new in 1973 I can attest to that. Quality Control was not a priority in 1973.

Hey Ryan, bro, I haven't told you yet that you got so lucky finding such a cherry Camaro !! After you get done with it, it's gonna be better than when it rolled off the assembly line. I know you gonna let me drive...... Lol, just kidding, I'd have a better chance of winning the Power Ball. Can't say I'd blame you though. Now when you let someone ride with you, make them take off their shoes and wash their hands before entering. And no eating or drinking, definitely no smoking. Keeping it real for the old classics. Love it bro. So very close, yet so far away. I'm counting down with you bro.

Thanks man! Definitely nothing besides water in it when I’m done 😅. You’re right, these final touches take the longest to do!

Great channel and video! May want to get a new wheel on order anyways, though. The wheel is breaking down, so no matter how well you prep for paint, that goo will still come out and then get between the wheel and paint. Couple months you’re likely going to have the paint flaking off because of that.
@RyanSampsonRPh3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sean! I figured this may happen but we will see how long it lasts until I have to get out the credit card again 😂

Hi Ryan when you buy the Hydraulic lifters please look around for Toyota 4y lifters. It's exactly the same as the small block lifters and it a quarter of the price
@RyanSampsonRPh3 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome, I never knew that! I actually got the whole howard’s cam with roller lifters as a set (luckily), so I should be ok. Good to know that though!

Ryan is that the stock steering wheel ? my 70 had the thinner plastic one, that almost looks like what they put in newer Cameros or Vegas's then again I guess it could be stock yours is 3 years newer

Yeah , is hard to match the seat color because of fading or color changing. I painted the window edge trim to match car

Why not use brass freeze plugs?
@RyanSampsonRPh3 жыл бұрын
The machine shop installed them themselves. They will get painted over like the factory did 🙂
@junit4833 жыл бұрын
@@RyanSampsonRPh I just figured for as much time, consideration, and care that you've shown to this car down to the most tedious of details, you wouldn't use steel plugs and have them rust out on you. Seriously, you've done a fantastic job and it's been enjoyable watching this restoration.
@RyanSampsonRPh3 жыл бұрын
@@junit483 Thanks! I never thought too much of it until you mentioned it. Hopefully they hold up with just the exterior of them painted. We will see I guess 😬

@@junit483 I have had steel soft plugs last over 50 years. The old trick is #2 permatex on the inside of the plugs. It's like tar.
