Great review for consumers, instead of kissing manufacturers' butts. Great note on using back extend and nordics at almost same setting.

Thank you for the review. I was second guessing ordering this one over the Freak athlete, but I mostly wanted full length nordics and back extensions and I was trying to use less then $600 off my FSA card 😅 so .... here's hoping. 🍀 I guess worst case scenario if I really want the Freak Athlete I can get it next year.

I'll say what I say every time. I love both of these machines. The NBE v2 doesn't have as many functions but is cheaper. The Freak Athlete has more functions but is more expensive. They're both great machines though. If you only need the functions of the NBE, save some money. If you want the extra functionality, get the Freak athlete. I doubt you'll be disappointed either way you go. 💪

You're a better man than I for not cracking at the joke potential at 08:12 . That aside, this does look like an interesting unit and honestly it looks more appealing than Shogun's Nord-Ex. 100lb makes it still maneuverable for most adults (I have to be mindful of my equipment to make sure my wife can still move things around as needed) vs 105lb for Freak Athlete's and 126lb for Shogun's. TBG's unit has slightly more weight capacity than Freak Athlete's, I can't find Shogun's though I would imagine it's the greatest capacity of the three just because of its design. Putting it all together, at $515 to my door the Tib Bar Guy's machine is the most appealing of the three. Or four, if you include the Nordic Pro.

When I was playing the footage back during editing I heard the joke and new a lot of people would be thinking that too. Lol I haven't had the chance to check out the nord ex so I can't speak to that one. As far as this one vs freak athlete, there's benefits to each. The NBEV2 is a little more sturdy and has slightly higher quality materials. The freak athlete has more variety of exercises though.

If you only need features that the NBE v2 covers, I'd probably save the money and get it. If you think you may want features from the freak athlete at some point, get it. Both machines are great. The freak athlete just does more stuff and costs more.

Just got mine, great review! For the knee pad pin that you remove for back extensions though, mine is fully threaded and takes almost a minute to unscrew it. Have you tried replacing that with a small hitch pin? I’m thinking of doing that so it takes literally 3 seconds to make the get the pad on and off.
@RyanTreadaway6 ай бұрын

@@RyanTreadaway thanks man. Turns out I had the bracket backwards, which made me need to screw in the entire way instead of just partial. I flipped it but got a 5/16 x 4” detent pin anyway. Super fast and still secure. 3/8” might have worked too honestly.

Thanks for the detailed and awesome review! Also watched a review on the freak athletes. How do the pads compare to the Freak athletes nordic hyper in terms of quality? Thanks
@RyanTreadaway7 ай бұрын
The padding is a little thicker on the Tib Bar Guy. I have both and love them both. Honestly, it comes down to the Freak Athlete does more stuff and also costs more. Do you want more functions for more money? In my opinion, however you answer that question is which one you should buy.

Could I do reverse hypers on this?
@RyanTreadawayАй бұрын
You can definitely do them on here. I wouldn't call them "true" reverse hypers though since you'll be lying on the machine at an angle vs lying on a flat platform.
@TheGhu1238 ай бұрын
how does this compare to the Shogun nordic? Also do you prefer freak or tibbar guy ?
@HoormazdKia6 ай бұрын
As someone who tried all three I’d put… 1. TiB bar guy for Nordic curls (unless you need a higher degree, then freak athlete) 2. Freak athlete for GHR 3. Shogun for back extensions. I dislike the shogun for Nordic curls because it’s not full ROM. freak athlete wins for me because aside from my first choice for GHRs, it’s 2nd place for everything else and more.

How is this for decline sit-ups? Can you put the pad in hip thrust position like at the 3:20 mark and do sit-ups without hitting your head on the base plate?
@RyanTreadaway8 ай бұрын
I tried it. It doesn't work. My head would hit right where the foot plate is.
@lastfirst22412 ай бұрын
Thanks for the review, Ryan. Can you tell me what the shortest distance possible is from the footplate to the top of the thigh pad when in back extension mode? I need something that can go quite short for my girlfriend (5' 0", short legs).
@JohnSmith-gy2jg6 ай бұрын
And have you tried to use it in the flat position with the handles off? I don’t think I’ll use my for hip thrusts, so curious if it’s only required for that. I have a small space and those handles make it a good amount wider at the top.
@RyanTreadaway6 ай бұрын
It's meant to sit on the handles always at the bottom position.
@cavemanmoneyshot_68503 ай бұрын
I bought this over freak athlete due to price and primary needs of back extension hip thrusts split squats and Nordic curls. Reverse hyper is a need/desire too. I wanted the freak athlete but couldn’t justify $1300+ vs $500 out the door for the TiB bar guy machine. Plus TiB bar guy holds 550lbs and freak athlete 500lbs. Back to reverse hyper. How does that work on the TiB bar guy Nordic?
@thetibbarguy3 ай бұрын
Hi! You can perform Reverse Hypers on the Tib Bar Guy unit by placing the ankle roller pad at the end of the bench. Raise the bench to your desired angle, rest your hips on the round ankle roller pad, and hold onto the sides of the bench for support. Hope this helps! 💪💪

When adjusting for back extension, how much travel is there for that thigh pad? Looks fine for you, but my wife is definitely shorter, and her hip crease would be lower. How much more room was there to slide the pad?

I just looked at buying one from Belgium. Code seemded to work, but shipping costs a whooping 250€ (something in that area). So the bench becomes more than half as expensive...

I'm trying to decide between this and the Freak Athlete one. My primary need is for Back extensions, then Nordics... then if I had the Freak Athlete one, I would probably do GHDs, but I honestly don't know which other exercises I would actually do frequently. As you mentioned, the reverse hypers don't really work. Not sure I care about decline situps. Are there any other perks to the Freak Athlete one besides GHDs when comparing to this? ~$250 cheaper for better build quality sounds very enticing.

Wait... so this machine doesnt even do a reverse hyper or you didnt bother to review it. You cant knock the freak athlete about this if you dont compare the two movements. From thi ls review i like the versatility im the freak athlete more. This machine just seems like a really good nordic bench. And its 2nd purpose of hyper extension. But its 3rd purpose of splite quat and or hip thrust is no major feature because you can basically do those movement on any pad/bench/etc. So this machine overall really just have two movements. Again the freak athlete seems better for the money
@RyanTreadaway5 ай бұрын
The reason I didn't knock this machine about the reverse hyper is because they don't advertise that reverse hyper is a core function of this machine. So there's nothing to knock. Freak Athlete does claim reverse hyper is a core function. But in general, my opinion is I like the freak athlete better. It's more versatile but it's also much more expensive. so it depends on what functions you want/need and what your budget is. I think both of these machines are great for the right person.
