TimeSplitters In Detail: Streets

Something cool I noticed: The snow in the TS2 version of Streets is changing directions frequently, like the wind is blowing it in different directions. If you are looking into the snow, your view will have more flakes on it than when it's blowing away from you. This is the same on other levels with weather. Also in regards to the new passage at 1:18 - in Capture the Bag, this passage is closed off at the top with a door (looks like the ones used in chinese from TS1) and there is a level 5 weapon at the foot of the stairs. All other team modes have randomized spawns in TS2 so the door and level 5 weapon are gone.

This was always one of my favorite maps and I was sad it didn’t make the cut in FP, so I remade it in mapmaker mode :)

Streets is a map that I really love from both games, and it's always left me with a strange question: what kind of street is this supposed to be? It's just garage doors at each end of the street and a few businesses? How do you get on the road? Also, thank you for this video! It was nice to have a breakdown of these two versions of the map! Also also, thank you for showing the plane. Finally I know what it looks like up close.

This is great. I'm glad you're continuing this. Personally I'd like to see a top down view of Planet X from ts2 if possible. My only irk is that the side by side comparisons should have probably been positioned next to each other rather than stacked.

I might try some more fancy splicing of the videos next time, though admittedly this was my first time doing a side by side comparison and took me a few goes to try and keep the speed consistent between both games!

RyanUkAus I admire the accuracy of the run throughs. Stuff like that is tricky to pull off, and I've done my fair share of 're-creation work.' You did great with that. If you're ever extremely bored, I have a playlist with 14 Timesplitters maps that I've remade in halo 5 on my channel. Streets was my... 5th TS remake I think. Didn't turn out too well when compared to others though.

I can't believe how many aesthetics they removed! Why? Only reason I can fathom is memory space.

Notice most of the things removed were a unique texture of some sort, such as the billboard, Linux, FR designs etc so it could have been linked to memory. I think it would have been a good improvement if the third entrance to Blue Team was instead removed, and a second entrance to Red Team was added!

They announced that Xbox One will get compatibility for original xbox games, hopefully we get some time splitters 2 multiplayer going again!
