@stefansgarage30145 ай бұрын

I totally agree. I’ve tried stock and Legends previously and well, felt like I’d got something better but still not good enough. I’ve ridden many thousands of miles with Wilbers since then and I’d say Wilbers suspension is probably the first modification anyone should do. Before pipes, seat and engine, get your bike to ride and handle right.

I've had a Wilbers setup on the rear of my 1997 K1100LT for about 15 years. It transformed the bike. So planted in sweepers now. And the quality of craftsmanship was better than Ohlins. The adjusters felt precision and Ohlins worked, but didn't feel as well made. That said, the Ohlins shocks are of course, great, but I'm glad I went with the Wilbers. The Nivomat sounds really interesting as I often do day rides and such and going on a big trip with full luggage is something the Nivomat handles automatically. The one concern I have with the kit is the front. It's just oil and a progressive spring. I'm not sure what capabilities are missing from that compared to a cartridge compared to the spring and oil. My '07 Road King has the original suspension (rear air shocks) and I'm sure it would be a massive improvement no matter what I go with, but it seems odd they went with a simple front suspension given the very advanced rear suspension of the Nivomat.
@chile26103 ай бұрын
Going to have to say that although you recommend doing the Wilbers suspension 1st, I strongly recommend waiting until you finish doing your sound system 1st because of the added weight. Example, I just added new Voodoo Lids with Cicada's CHX 8.2 speakers, and that added 18 lbs to each saddlebag. Now I am contemplating on adding 2 Cicada 10" subs at 20 lbs a piece... All of that extra added weight neeeds to be accounted for when you purchasing the Wilbers.... Now, I am 100% sold on these and they will be my next suspension. So thank you for that!

Your new suspension may very well be an outstanding upgrade. The fact that you felt compelled to replace suspension parts on a new bike that goes out the door at North of 30K speaks volumes about the HD motor company. Ride safe brother.

It's many makes of bikes, not just Harley. Indian guys change their suspension too. BMW riders and on and on and on. Stock suspension is stock and only so good. Gusy buy brand new enduro bikes and put new suspension and valving on those. Just part of the game. Definitely not specific to Harley.
@RetNavyChiefBTC5 ай бұрын
@@RyanUrlacher Not specific to Harley, that is correct. Harley just makes classical art, of ripping off their customers. You can put me on that list, to the tune of 6 new Harleys, over the last 35 years. They will rip me off no more. Enjoy your new suspension and ride safe!

Thanks for sharing the experience and info about Wilbur's. I watched a video of Traveling Tall. He paid the German manufacturer mechanic to fly over and install the suspension on his bike. It was amazing and hearing you talk about it makes me lean towards them whenever I do my suspension upgrade. Keep.up the good job!

When I was researching rear shocks for my '19, I had heard of a quality brand German made shock but I couldn't remember the name or find it. Well, it was Wilbers. But I figured it out after I decided on Legends (with Suspension Technologies in the forks). I'm a lighter weight rider so the stock suspension was a deal breaker. My Legends have been great and the lifetime warranty sold me. I would have no hesitation going with Wilbers after your review if I upgrade again.

Have a SGS with Legends front/rear suspension. Rode East Tenn area many, many times and better suspension makes a heck of a difference. Just rented a stock Pan America for a week and rode the same roads. I understand some can't physically ride the Pan America but if you can; it is the motorcycle to ride those roads. It was an absolutely fantastic motorcycle on those roads! If I'm traveling in the city or long distances like across the country, I want to be on the SGS but everything else, the Pan America is my choice. Hope they come out with a 900cc version one day.

Great video Ryan. Well explained riding , cornering and railroad track bumps with the Wilbur’s suspension. For me as an average rider on 2015 street glide, the Wilbur’s price tag is a concern even though with your video I’m sure I would the suspension.

Thanks for watching. Yeah, like I say, with suspension, the more you spend the better it gets. Wilbers is near the same price as the Ohlins I had in my 14. I get it. Suspension is expensive, but the best upgrade a rider can make. IMO

Hi Ryan, I have watched many of your great videos on different suspension upgrades. I switched out the rear shocks on my 2012 UC with Legends and it made a huge difference. Then purchased a 2017 UL, and swapped the shocks putting the Legends on the UL. Seeing the video on Wilbers, and watching Stefan's videos, I'm sold on Wilbers. My question is, what is the front fork service interval after initial install? Just wondering when I would have to look at getting more of the special front fork oil and where would I get it. Thanks,, ride safe Brother.

Hey Ryan, great video. I currently have legend front and rear on my '17 Street Glide. Its stable in corners but harsh ride. Because I ride 50/50 solo/two up, I'm considering Ohlins cartridges up front and Wilbers in the rear (mostly because of adjustability in the front, none needed in rear) . I live in a mountainous region (near the dragon) and need excellent cornering characteristics, but also want a more compliant ride than I currently have. Can you shed some light on this idea for me please. Much appreciated.

As Ryan said, it's always better than stock. For the CVO ST you would need to go for the (CVO) cartridge and Nivomat or reservoir rear shocks. Nivomat will provide maximum comfort (without reservoirs), Wilbers reservoir rears will provide look (with sporty stiffness)
