Hey bud, are you gonna do any more Indian Motorcycle reviews? I haven’t seen any lately.
@Ridingfish Жыл бұрын
Im going to jump in here.. The windshield is pure money!! The stock on the pursuit is just too big to really get the use of it.. you kept it down almost all the time but imagine if that was just under all the way up!! Then lowering it, you would have a huge amout of air flow, speaking of airflow the lower vents need to obly be opened like 2 inches to make a wind tunnel effect to pull the hot air off your leg.. i do agree its HOT AF 🔥 with them open all the way!! The cat is under the bike its not really making heat ita the head pipe.. the back rest is 100% available and there is a spot in that seat to put it.. i do like the trunk for the fact that going down the road it will never fly open.. haha im not sure why all the motorcycle companies have gone away from hydraulic clutch but they all seem to have done it.. one last thing the trunk has a security screw that can be added for long trips.. thay wouls require you to take the saddle bags off to take the screw out.. then followed by the trunk.. i hope all this helps.. i have well over 50,000 miles on this platform and some videos.. HMU if you got some other questions! 💪 💪

The lower vents are designed to be adjusted with your boot. I've had two Pursuits and never notices buzziness at speed and higher RPM's. There's plenty of great aftermarket windscreens available. I went with the Klock Werks Flare 11". I actually like the Ride Command Plus. I haven't had to pay for it yet but when I do, I will. The stock suspension is one of the best OEM available options. BTW I had a 22 Pursuit Limited Premium and now have the 23 Elite. The truck works best when firmly slammed. There is a slit in the seat for a back rest. Hardware is available from Indian for installing the backrest. Heat on the right side is better managed with having the vents 3/4 open. Seems like a good review. Thanks for sharing.

I put more than 5,200 miles on a single trip on a brand new pursuit last summer. I loved it. I replaced my windscreen with the 11” flare. You might need a shorter height. Perfect when fully up and great airflow and a cooling blast of wind when it’s down. I think that the electronically adjustable suspension on the premium model is pure gold. The engine is responsive, powerful and runs like a dream. I have the riders back rest, which was readily available on the Indian website, and longer reach bars. The trunk is great if you have gear you want locked away or if you need something charged while you’re riding. I have two more long rides planned next summer and can’t wait to ride again.

I ride a 2019 Roadmaster and a major reason I ride Indian is for luxury items like electronically adjustable windscreen, remote locking bags/trunk and heated leather seat. I expect premium features like these on a touring bike that is north of 30K.

Replaced my ultra for a 2022 pursuit limited and haven’t had a single regret. Also, there are two locking screws for the trunk which can on,y be accessed with the saddlebags off. Lastly, Indian does make a drivers backrest for the stock seat. You simply remove the seat install a bracket and the backrest slides in the spot with the looped handle

Thanks for sharing. Are the "locking" screws to "lock" the trunk proprietary heads or just a standard tool?

@RyanUrlacher The locking bolts (screws) can only be removed / installed with the bags removed, or tilted out. They just prevent the release latch from moving. I just use 1 side on only when traveling.

Loved my Challenger for 15k. Then I rode the BMW K1600b! The BMW K1600b is superior in just about every aspect. 160hp/133ft lbs of torque. Bidirectional quick shifter, hydronic clutch, automatic suspension adjustment, linked Brembo brakes, heated grips, heated seat, 6 axis IMU, 8,500 rpm redline and it will hang with sport bikes! Baddest bagger on the road period! Nice review though Brian!

I just bought a 2023 Indian Pursuit Dark Horse Premium 3 weeks ago. Last week I did a 7 day 1730 mile ride through Arizona. Closing the truck is much easier if you lower it, with one elbow on the truck rack and the other hand on the black bar under the trunk. Pull up on the bar as you push down with your elbow and it latches nicely. My only issue with windshield is I want it shorter so I ordered an an aftermarket tinted one. I love the bike and plan on doing a two week road trip next year. 16 years as a LEO and former motor officer. This bike is a joy to ride and Indian customer service is far better than HD.

I bought my 2023 Pursuit February 18 2023, in 6 months I’ve rode 13,000, yes the ride command sucks, but your ankle to pull readable codes through it, your chassis code, would have given you a number to look up, (mine was just needing to reset the electronic suspension) the lower fairings can be opened with your foot, took a while to figure out, double clicking the lock button sets the bike Alarm, I do love it!

Hi Ryan, I ride a 2021 ROADMASTER Limited. I have 19k miles on it. My personal issues with Ride Command is how dysfunctional Apple CarPlay is. I have a Cardo headset and CarPlay works when it feels like it. Now, I do pay for the service and I like how easy the search is with it, not to impressed with the weather part. What I love most about it, I ride the backroads of WI a lot. I pick a destination, set unpaved roads to N. Avoid highways and tolls. I then let the system pick a route. I absolutely love it. As you say, no bike is perfect. But this bike for me is far better than others. Thank you for your content.

I'd be interested in your eval of this motor in basic, PO Motor Course. My agency uses a Victory Cross Country for patrol, and I HATED it! Lean angle is completely different than the HD and the lean angle is abrupted by the floorboards. I ate the clutch up during the 2-week course, to the point it has never been the same since, after repeated trips to the dealer. Victory Basic PO course instructs students not to use the friction zone as much as the HD course. I own a 2017 Indian Roadmaster and love it. After taking the Basic PO Motor Course, I appreciate the RM even more. Safe riding, and keep up the great content!

I was an early adopter of the new Indians with the purchase of a new 2014 Chieftain. That bike had a lot of cosmetic issues and the paint looked bad after just three years of ownership. Mechanically it was sound. I liked the remote locking bags and the adjustable windshield. I wasn't a big fan of the TS111. I thought it was underpowered and buzzy at high speeds. I've owned two different H-D touring bikes since, and the Harleys have a much higher quality feel to them. I understand that Indian has made some improvements over the past 10 years and the Pursuit intrigues me enough to take one for a ride when it's time for me to move on from my 2020 RG Limited. I absolutely love the adjustable windshield. I think it makes a huge difference, and I can comfortably feel the difference in the air temperature. As for the trunk, you have two set screws that can installed on the arms two prevent someone stealing the trunk. Also I’m pretty you can add the Indian driver backrest. For the heat from the PP 108, most of us just do cat delete or run 2-1-1 full exhaust. Plus a good tune helps with the heat. Indian does offer right side stage one air filter (mainly for looks). Thanks for the review.

AMEN!!! Of all the good points you made here the one that I was SO GLAD you mentioned was the lack of the hydraulic clutch! I for one was furious when Harley went "back in time" to the cable clutch. Fortunately for me I have a 2020 Ultra Limited, the last year of the hydraulic clutch for HD. I will never buy another bike without one. If you are wondering why I am so adamant about this I had my 2013 Ultra Classic clutch cable snap on me 2 hours from home. I vowed then and there to never buy another bike with a cable clutch. My other bike, a 2007 Honda VTX 1800, has a hydraulic clutch and I have over 102,000 miles on it and I have never had an issue with that clutch. If the Japanese can do it certainly the American companies should be able to as well. RANT OVER!

My 2012 CVO Street Glide has the hydraulic clutch, and I LOVE it. It NEVER needs adjustment and has performed flawlessly for 12 years. It's more expensive to manufacture, which I'm quite certain is why Harley went back to cheaper cable clutches.

The best way to get consistent reliable performance on an Indian running Apple CarPlay is to NOT plug your phone directly into the bike but to put a Bluetooth Wireless CarPlay dongle between your bike and phone. It’s sounds counterintuitive to add another component but believe me it solved all my annoying connection and dropout issues. Tested on a 15 hour trip. Never failed to connect never dropped out. Before when going direct phone to bike it was a crap shoot wether it would connect or I’d lose it 30 minutes into a ride. I run a Cardo Pactalk Black and run through a AutoSky CarPlay Wireless Adapter Max connected to the bike.

I’ve got well over 100,000 on my Honda ST1300ABS, it has the electric windshield. The biggest problem isn’t being behind the window when it’s cold, it’s during heavy rains. No, I do t raise it all the way up, I find the sweet spot where the wind off the tip of my windshield blows the water off my face shield. It is very handy for the snow, it prevents that 2 to 4 inches of snow from building up on my chest. It’s also handy in heavy head winds and kind of acts like a sail in tail winds, HOWEVER, if it’s all the way up in strong side winds, you’ll find muscles you haven’t used in years as it will want to help steer and make you lean over while going straight.

W/shield needs to be changed out for a Klockwerks flip or similar. Trunk comes with anti-theft bolts that must have been removed. Seat has a slit to put the available backrest into. Angle the right lower vent towards the motor rather than full open, heats gone. Who spends their time riding in a parking lot like that, it’s a Touring bike and rock stable on the highway! Suspension is very adjustable and can be “calibrated” in the menu, I’ve scraped once in 9k miles. CarPlay has connectivity issues if phone is also paired thru Bluetooth. Have the bike “forget” your phone and no more issues when connected thru usb.

In regards to your comments on how the trunk opens, I agree 100%. The Honda ST1300 genuine Hondaline trunks open the same way and it sucks! Whether you put something on top of the trunk or a bag in the passenger seat like I do, you still have to deal with something to get into the trunk. I’ve ridden with guys that bought Givi trunks that open to the side live them, even though they don’t look as nice, they won’t go back to their Hondaline trunks. I hope Indian does change this, even though I’m not an owner, I can tell them this really matters.

Great review, and pretty bike! I have a ‘22 HD Ultra Limited and a lot of your complaints or downsides, I don’t find with my HD. I’m in law enforcement as well, and like you said, the turn radius on the HD is much tighter. Ride safe!

How could you possibly miss the slit in the seat? The lower amount of engine braking when downshifting is the slipper clutch working
@RyanUrlacher Жыл бұрын
Definitely would rather not have a slipper clutch. I use engine braking alot when riding more aggressively. Just personal preference. Not bad, but I mentioned all things I experienced on this bike. That keeps it a fair review.

I've had a '21 Challenger Limited for three years now. It's next to my '21 Harley SGS 114. Gotta say, that Indian engine is at another level over the M8. So is the Indian suspension over OEM Harley. I have fun riding the Harley, but it is an f'ing blast to ride the Challenger. If Harley can ever come out with an all-new fully liquid cooled 120+ HP touring engine, with a decent suspension and a power windscreen, then I think that would help me look their way for a performance tourer.

Thanks Ryan for making this in depth review. Im living in a hot country, where temperatures easily exceeds 40 degree celsius, thus engine heat is a major factor for me. I own a 2019 street glide special M8, im wondering how the engine heat coming off the pursuit compares to the HD M8. Is it roughly the same? More? Less? Thanks

Great review Ryan. Think i saw some ol canyon road in here!! The “Victory Persuit” 🍻 My Vic lowers work with my toe, those do too. I have 98K on it now and so I think the Pursuit is in my future . But no back this is an issue for me too. I forgot to open my vents on a hot day last year and noticed that it created a Backdraft that sucked all the heat away from my legs so now I ride with all the vents closed on my cross country. I haven’t had a chance to ride the pursuit in hot weather, but I’m going to try that and see if closing everything creates the same back draft sucks all the heat away. I can’t believe it took me eight years to figure that out! Duh me! ride on and ride with all my friend👍

Greetings. A couple things...I have approx 20k km on my 2022 basic Challenger and the vibes minor as they are really don't bother me but I'm usually at 65-70 mph with a lower rpm. As to ride command on my bike to get the gps it's an option & after the first year there is a yearly fee. I am okay with that as the weather radar overlay is very good (retired pilot here) and it is something I find valuable. Different strokes.... I would like to have the hard lowers and a heated seat* - I ride right down to 0'C in the spring and fall. I've been very pleased with the way Indian and my dealer (Headingly Sports) have stood behind me when there have been problems. A couple bikes back was a BMW and while their support is excellent having said that the the support of Indian surpasses that. Again, your mileage may vary. *optional heated Indian seats do not have a slot for a driver backread where my base seat does and i need the backrest.
@Sturmgaard9 ай бұрын
I have a 22 premium, which has the heated seat. It does come with the opening firva backrest. The Pursuit and Challenger require a bracket specific to those bikes, but use the same backrest as the 111 bikes.

I have a 2020 Roadmaster and I heard about the heat issue but I have not experienced it on my bike it's no worse than any other and in many cases better. I open the vents in the summer and have no issue i have the stage one air filter the oval-shaped one that adds horsepower and I have fishtail stage one pipes so maybe that helps. I ride in shorts and casual shoes a lot of the time summer in Canada. It gets extremely hot and winters can get brutally cold Canada has extreme heat in summer and extreme cold in winter so maybe we are a little tougher than Yanks when it comes to heat and cold.

Triangle light should reset itself after a couple restarts. No dealer required.Valid points on opening the trunk. The theft issue is easily mitigated and locked from the factory. Your bike had those bolts removed, apparently. My 22 Darkhorse Icon is a premium model, I have the factory seat and factory backrest. Mapping system sux for sure. Glitchy!! Motor is powerful but heat is a factor.

Hi Ryan, been watching your videos for a while now, I ride an Indian Roadmaster in the UK and found this video quite useful as I have been thinking about upgrading. I did find the frame size is shorter on the Pursuit compared to the Roadmaster and does give you slightly less room when two up. On my seat there is an option for a riders back rest. The windscreen I have is a shorter one & I think with it being adjustable gives my a lot of control in the hot weather & rain to keep cool & clear rain drops in turn. I do run a Facebook page for Indian Riders World Wide are you happy for me to share this Video with a bit of an intro? 2025 we are planning a 3 month trip to the US if you feel you would like to meet up give us a shout back. Regards Stewart

Ryan I'm confused. In the review you said the seat didn't have a slot for a rider backtest. When you're learning on the bike at the end of the video there is a slot in the seat..

i am going to preface my comment by saying I am not a die hard Harley rider. I have owned mostly metric sport bikes up until i got older and bought my first Harley, a 2017 Harley Ultra limited. This year i was thinking about a new bike and all the hubbub about the Indians led me to test drive the 2023 Indian Pursuit Premium. After a pretty lengthy test drive i just couldn't pull the trigger. The bike had all the power they said it did. It had all the electronic gadgetry on the dash, it handled great, but nothing about the bike fit me. Its a long bike and a long gas tank. the stretch to the bars was uncomfortable for me, and the top of the winshield at its lowest point was right at my line of sight and the curve was distracting. i would have to change the windscreen or ride with it up slightly, but i live in New Mexico and its HOT here so that was a problem to start with. speaking of heat... the heat coming off the right side was blistering. the model i test drove did not have highway pegs so i had nowhere other than the floor board to keep my foot. it was hotter than my Harley and i swore it was going to melt my boot. There are a lot of pros to this bike, but just as many con's. One con in particular that stuck in my mind is dealer network, there really isn't much for Indian dealerships out here. my wife and i are weekend warriors and always putting 500-600-800 miles a weekend on the bike. I can find a Harley dealer with in a 100 mile radius if need be. Not so much with Indian. the thing that killed the purchase for sure was rider comfort. Although i thought the seating was preety sweet, my wife hated the seating compared to the Ultra seat. The back rest was too firm and stiff and at a more upright angle compared to the Harley. In order for me to buy that bike, at minimum, i could see a bar change, windshield change, and highway pegs. After great debate i ended up with a 2023 Road Glide Limited that i am happy as hell with. it may not have all the bells and whistles the Indan has, but it rides and handles great and sometimes less is more.

Motorcycle vibration is a huge issue for those with compromised kidney function like myself. I happen to like my kidneys! The 6 cylinder box engine and 7 speed DCT transmission is SMOOTH! I get to preserve what renal function I have left while riding. The Honda GoldWing outperforms Harley and Indian when it comes to vibration control. Indian tried to mimic longstanding GoldWing features but roughly.

I have an Indian Springfield. It has had an electrical problem since day one. Polaris stopped trying to find the problem after about 5 Indian dealerships worked on it. They said they weren't going to spend a fortune trying to find the problem. Will not honor the warranty. So, I have a useless piece of shit in my driveway. Definitely not safe fiddling with vents while riding... nice engine performance. I like that it is water cooled, which equates to a cooler engine and longevity! A backrest is a must. Radiator fans create the experienced heat. No excuse for a bad infotainment system. What the heck? HD needs the competition. Good for Indian :-)
