I love the continuing saga of the Skillshare guy.That cathedral-style dice box has got me thinking of ways to make a stained glass style dice box. Maybe like cold cast with black mica powder and try a transparent base with a few different color swirls? I don’t know but either way everything looks amazing as usual
@Rybonator3 жыл бұрын
You could paint a pattern in the mold with some black resin, let it dry, and then fill in the other colors with mica powder for a pretty rad effect before pouring resin :D Also I'm glad that the skillshare guy bits aren't just funny to me xD
@fableagain3 жыл бұрын
@@Rybonator wouldn't the first layer of resin pull off from the mold walls when you fill it with clear resin? Maybe there's a way to do this with inserts, though the only way I can think of would only work in a horizontal plane: make the "coloured glass" parts first, lay them down and pour in the resin that acts as the metal in stained glass. Oh, or maybe you could make a mold of just the metal part (like a frame), cure that first and then add the coloured parts? That way you wouldn't have to make inserts. Plus with inserts you need to line everything up perfectly and hope nothing shifts but that wouldn't be a problem with this second option.

And the ectoplasm look lends itself very well to a water-bending vibe, which I really dig.

You should consider double-inking dice: where you ink one color on transparent or semitransparent dice, so that color will show through and bounce around, and then a second layer on top to be visible from the outside. I had some transparent rainbowy dice that were inked silver, which i inked dark blue on too of that. It was very shimmery inside and still totally legible since there wasnt the numbers on the opposite side competing with the top faces

So here is the question, I have made 2 complete sets and 2 partial sets with these molds. All turned out okay, minus the mistakes (aka the partials) my 5th set came out weird. 1 complete set and the partials used art n glo, the other complete set and the weird set used unokki resin. Best I can describe the weird set is that they looked hammered. I used the same molds, cleaned them, let them dry for a few days, both sets used brushed mica powder, and both sets were pressure potted at 40 psi for 18 hours. I dunno why this happened. Do you have any ideas? I generally follow your methods, and it worked several times. I do not have Instagram or twitter, so this is my best medium
