Rydal Water and Rydal Cave

Another instalment form my Lake District visit and just a short one, an afternoon stroll around Rydal Water, nipping up to visit the cave while there.
It has to be said that the cave is pretty special and well worth the visit.
A nice simple loop for an afternoon stroll between bigger hikes.

A nice gentle walk and although I have been around Grasmere and Rydal, I have never been to the cave before. I always imagine it as it was, packed with tourists, which puts me off, especially the miserable ones who cannot be bothered to return a hello on the path. I think we will give it a go mid week, when the schools are back, cheers Alan

Haha indeed regarding the tourists. Definitely one which would be a better place to visit, as you say, midweek in term time. Probably better still early hours or evening… the cave is certainly worth paying a visit to though if in the area.

Always popular during the school hols......I did go in early July a couple of years back and we had the place to ourselves. A very interesting place and as you said well worth a visit. Looked like you found a fairly quiet place for a dip in the lake though..........ATB..........Stu....👍

Yes I’d love to visit again at a quieter time, take a bit more time to admire it without the screaming children and barking dogs 😂 There was a wall to my left at the lake, there were plenty the other side of it but was had that small section to myself 👌🏼

I imagine all the lakes will be pretty popular on a nice afternoon during school holidays. Cave was well worth a visit though.

Ha! On a walk recently, I said 'good morning' to someone, and they started talking back, but it didn't make any sense to me, then I realized they had ear buds and were talking on their phone. :D Oh well...
