The Ryder Gambit is an aggressive line in the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit. It starts with the moves:
1.d4 d5
2.e4 dxe4
3.Nc3 Nf6
4.f3 exf3
5. Qxf3

I’ve learned to watch for white bishop takes on C6 and queen takes on C6+. I just didn’t know the gambit name and it’s variations. Now I’m ready. Thanks Kevin for your great posts. I’m becoming a better chess player than my peers by watching your videos.

My win against Ryder gambit and Blackmar-diemer in bullet, blitz and rapid is 100% which proves these openings are unsound but it may be fun for beginners to play BMG in blitz.

at 7:40, 12. 0-0-0 looks interesting, but black has 12. ... Ba3 as a response, threatening Rb7+ discovered check winning a piece. White can defend with 13. Nb1, but that still loses a pawn after 13. ... Rxa2 14. Nxa3 Rxa3. But I do agree that the 6 ... Qb4 trap should've been shown. Black is basically hopeless if he walks into 6. Be3 Qb4 7. 0-0-0 Bg4.

The Ryder Gambit is refuted fairly simply: 5.Df3: Dd4: 6.Le3 Dg4 7.Df2 e5! 8.a3 Ld6 9. Sf3 e4 10.Sd4 00 0-1
