The Fast And The Furious: Engine Sounds - Mitsubishi Eclipse

Engine/Exhaust sounds of the Mitsubishi Eclipse from the movie The Fast and The Furious
The engine and exhaust sounds were achieved trough editing all the different sound channels within the film by muting channels that contained music, speech etc.
Specifications:
According to The Fast and the Furious: The Official Car Guide written by Eddie Paul, the 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse has 420a 16-valve dual overhead cam 2-Liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 165hp before turbo.
It has a full Robo Car Aero Armor Eclipse Body Kit, custom made carbon fiber front splitter, a custom GT style roof scoop, a APR two level GT2 style wing, carbon fiber mirrors, 1997 spec Eclipse headlights, and green neon lighting, alongside SE7EN 18-inch wheels by Axis Sport Tuning Inc. in 225/40ZR18 Toyo Tires.
At least five stunt cars were created for the 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse.
According to the official movie guide, the Mitsubishi Eclipse is a 1995 model.
ORIGINAL SOUND: The engine sound for the Eclipse in the movie was replaced by the sound of a Honda CRX owned by a former street racer named Greg Leone.

This car brought me to my eclipse. After watching the movie i searched for the car, never knew Mitsubishi built it, and in 2006 i finally bought my own eclipse. Still standing in my garagr, but it needs a lot of repair work on the body. One day he will be back on the streets for sure.

Coincidently , the same Honda that was used to record the Audio for the Engine of the Eclipse was in the lineup of cars behind Letty before her race at " Race Wars. " The Blue and White Striped CRX SI with the Full Roll Cage in it. Not pin point sure ,but I think it was built as a Full on Proper Racecar Build for one of the Big magazines at the time. There's few pics online of it with its then owner and a gorgeous Asian Model. Sick Little Machine, all the same. THIS is Top Tier Honda sound at its PEAK. And for an entire generation, people have chased after it to get their own vehicles to make that specific noise. It's what every SI badged, 4 cylinder Honda Should be able to sound like. The specific way they built the Eclipse may be a little Dated looking by today's standard to some. I love it, personally from a place in my heart that is rooted as the 10 year old kid who saw it New in 2001. But one can't argue that the Eclipse wasn't ACCURATE to the Time Period of tuner culture . To the 90's and Early 00's tuner culture ,the first Two films in particular are an excellent look into what was Happening in car culture on the racing and showcase car scene in the world at the time . Some people go for power , some go for a certain style or aesthetic. The First movie gave you the sense that you could realistically maybe achieve both and land on a plane of nice evened out ground between The two.

jason poston I could be wrong but I think I read somewhere that it was a turbo 420a Eclipse so it would be a little more raspy then the 4G63T due to being NA from the factory the timing is usually advanced compared to a boosted engine.
