I read that the break-in for the Airplane took 4 days when 10 hours was the usual. What an outstanding layout.

I was lucky to see this coaster circa 1945, but too young to be allowed on. My God, it was gorgeous. The design was spectacular, with a beautiful helix, the bottom of which went right by the loading station. I watched for hours.

How accurate is this recreation? :) I'd imagine this would be unsafe because of those Gs and the (then) primitive supports... @_@;

I went on that coaster when I was nine years old. I thought I'd never get off that thing alive.

Supposedly the blueprints exist. It's a crime against humanity that it hasn't been rebuilt.

Wouldn't the whole park be great as a tribute to the historical rides?

It does look to be a modernised and less intense version of the layout but I'd love to experience some version of this coaster. Unconventional idea: put this thing at New York New York Casino in Vegas. Would make a great fit as a second coaster there, and fit with the theme.

I think that might be what they're hinting at. Perhaps it'll be part of the Playland redevelopment plans.

I just noticed that too. A classic wooden coaster would fit the "Boardwalk" area rather well....

This thing looks like a masterpiece ! Great blend of airtime and laterals, low-to-the-ground and tall elements! The double helix near the start in particular looks absolutely INSANE! I can definitely see the inspiration

You can really see where the new GCI coasters' got their inspiration from. Love it.

I'd really love to see a park recreate this coaster.

This could go at SFDK, since they hardly have any non-inverting coasters, and no woodies. Plus they have the space, and it would fit under the height limit of 150ft.
@Fahrenheit405112 жыл бұрын
They can also promote their own designs, like the Backtrack, and Big Fun layouts. But yes, unless GCI decided to build their own park, they don't really have any say in what they build.

Two reasons why an Airplane Coaster replica is likely to happen in the near future: - The model shown on the video features a straight station, like modern coasters, rather than the curved station of the original Airplane Coaster - The background is that of a specific park (Six Flags Fiesta Texas), rather than a generic background like all of their other models.

So why not recreate a replica of it? I am sure some park would love a new woodie. Dorney needs another Woodie

I kind of wish SFFT would build this. It would be a great fit because they have no woodie now that Iron Rattler is a steel coaster and no longer wooden.

+Japorty I think within the next couple years with the renovations of the boardwalk I think they'll be talking out Pandemonium and putting a GCI woodie in its place.

Either Standard or Central Amusements is going to be running Rye Playland in 2015. If either company was really interested in restoring the history and glory of this "amusement park" and wanted to win the heart$ of many they would bring the Wooden Aeroplane Roller Coaster and other historical rides back to Playland. Do your research on the Web and social media and you will discovery the demand is there. The plans both companies present to date to update the rides are weak and shallow at best.

Looking forward to this beast being reborn at its original home, replacing the awful Superflight once Standard Amusements takes over operations at Playland this fall. With a little more height, banking, and negative G’s (airtime), this will give the Dragon Coaster a run for its money. Update: The deal fell out and Standard Amusements went bankrupt. Westchester County instead decided to celebrate the installation of a ride that can literally be found at EVERY OTHER PARK. I hate politicians. They ruin everything.

WHERE'S THE TUNNEL? I love old coasters that had a tunnel, especially leading to the lift. It's a great feature that no longer is constructed/designed.. Where's the fan turn under the post-chain turn (no banked enough)...? I HATE being one of those guys.
