I have around 4000km on this Ryet saddle over the last year with no issues at all. Still looks and feels like new. No cracks or peeling of the cushion. For £40 it’s fantastic and only weighs 165g. A genuine bargain.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking that way too, you can get some real crap on AliExpress, but this is not one of those.

Actually, this was helpful because I didn’t know this class of saddle existed on Chinazon. I am a 3-D printing nerd and a carbon fibre nerd, so thank you for putting this review out and putting the miles in to make this review actually worthy of being a review.

Thank you very much for your response and kind words. Lucky for me putting in the miles on this saddle was not a problem as it was quite comfortable. Have you seen some of my other 3D printing bike parts videos? Thanks again. I'm always happy to receive feedback. Be it positive or 'constructive'.

I have the exact same saddle on my 2 mountain bikes and accumulated more than 5k kms on each on mix terrain for practice and races. I would say they've held up pretty well and are my favorite saddles. I live in the Philippines and the temperature here where I've used them ranges from 12 degrees C to as high as 47 degrees C just recently. The only issue I had was the front part side dislodged a bit but you can easily snap it back on as it has some ridges on the side similar to a clincher tire. The 3d printed material do soften overtime as they were pretty stiff when new and became cumfier after a few rides. They're pretty tough as I've tried other saddles with carbon rails and broke them all unlike these which I do use for XC racing which are still all good. Hope to see more of your reviews as I always watch your channel.

I have the same saddle. I have completed over 6500 miles with a couple of centuries (100 miles). I have also ride in 35C conditions. So far no delaminating nor changes in top layer appearance.

I think this saddle is one of the gems amongst a lot of broken glass on AliExpress. Over those shorter distances, it's just as good as my Brooks. However, I still think for longer rides, and I haven't tested this, the Brooks would win. For 95% of my riding, it is just great. It's nice to know that others concur with my conclusion.

Just received mine after ordering on the strength of your review. What torque setting did you use when clamping the rails to the post? All I got in the box was the saddle!! Thank you 😊
@FiveMinuteVelo6 ай бұрын
That's great, I hope my review works for you. I too didn't get any instructions, that's perhaps something I could have mentioned in the video. However, the torque setting for this clamp will depend on the type of clamp, the number of screws, the type of screws, your weight and riding style. Assuming you have a clamshell type clamp and two M5 screws I would start off at 6Nm; if the clamp slips or moves, tighten it up by increments of 2Nm. Sorry, I think this is the best advice I can offer.
@Hydra3Three6 ай бұрын
That's a perfect response. Will start on 6nm and see how we go. Thank you 😊
@wx30545 ай бұрын
@@Hydra3Three in my experience, 6nm is way beyond what's needed to fix the saddle beyond moving. I'd be more conservative, start with 3-4nm, and add 1nm if deemed insufficient.

living in thailand and might invest.. obviously hot (bond?) but they are giving a 2 year warranty.. and pretty cheap

I agree with all of those points. The only caution I would have is that I wouldn't want it to fail during a long ride.

The temperature issue is not a problem . I live in Perth Australia ( the sunniest city in the world) . I rode this saddle all last summer and there is no observable degradation of the honeycomb to seat edge bond.
@marcdaniels90792 ай бұрын
That’s why I gave up group rides; too many people riding with fragile ultralight racing tyres having punctures every 5 minutes, usually in February when it’s about 7degC. Rant over 😅

Thank you for the review. Much appreciated! Now a question: I am considering a 3-D printed saddle in an effort to keep my butt cooler during indoor trainer rides. What do you think?
@FiveMinuteVelo7 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind words. Butt cooling is not really an area that I have any practical experience of 😁. However, if you can direct air flow under the saddle, for instance, from a fan, then I would have thought it would be better at cooling your butt than a solid saddle. Do bear in mind though the base of the saddle is solid, apart from the hole. Maybe get a saddle with a very large hole. Sorry I can't give any definitive advice on this. I'd be interest to know how you get on though.
@mikem48147 ай бұрын
Thank you for the fast response. I’ll probably give it a go. The investment is relatively cheap compared to so many other high-end purchases in the bicycle world.

I have the same saddle. Although just have about 120 miles on it. This saddle is much more comfortable than the standard issue specialized, the cut in the center is nice and wide fitting my undercarriage quite nicely. The proof will be in its longevity. Will the 3D printed padding delaminate with time. Will report back as I progress with it.

But it looks like the brooks' shape would put more pressure on the taintular area?
@FiveMinuteVelo9 ай бұрын
I think the big advantage of the Brooks is that the top surface is flexible, hammock like. The suspension element is noticeable as I revealed in my review of that saddle. The Ryet saddle has a flexible surface, but I think the underlying comfort comes more from the shape of the carbon base. The 3D printed covering adds a bit of comfort, but I think it's probably marginal. I'm almost hoping the adhesive gives way so I can test the saddle without the 3D printed surface 😊.

Are the rails round or oval?
@FiveMinuteVelo4 ай бұрын
Described in the first video. But to cut a long story short, they are 'oval'.
@berniekeene86823 сағат бұрын
Ryet does have a crmoly rail 3D saddle with round 7mm rails. I think it has a nylon/plastic base rather than a carbon base. I am considering getting one for my MTB/Commuter bike. The dropper seatpost requires round rails.
