RYKER: Denali SoundBomb Mini horn installation

Before I headed to Austin for the Blancpain GT races, I installed a few accessories. This video shows the installation process for the Denali SoundBomb Mini electromagnetic horn (not the air horn variety). It is larger and MUCH louder than the factory unit. It's a cheap safety upgrade that I would recommend to any Ryker owner (or on any other motorcycle).

Too bad you didn't include a before and after sound test, or at least an after sound test.

I will do that comparison with a better microphone and recorder setup. The GoPro's don't capture loud sounds (high SPL) very well and distort. I have a couple of new audio recorders (Zoom H1n and H5) that are good enough to record rock concerts. I will set those up at 1 meter and do some proper recordings. It only takes about a minute to swap the horn now, so it'll be easy. I'll try to do that video this week so everyone can hear the difference... just don't listen to it with headphones on! --QM

Awesome! You shouldn't have any trouble installing it. Just watch out for the mounting bracket on the bike frame... it's flimsy and bends around very easily. The Denali bracket needs to be angled down at about 45 degrees to allow room for the hood/bonnet. The spade tabs on the back of the horn just need to be bent at 90 degrees to prevent the wires from interfering with the steering linkage. --QM

Should have installed the Airhorn version ... easy to do and Goddamn it is freakishly loud...gets all the attention you need when u need it...installed one on a VFR800 motorcycle inside a small pocket inside the fairing ...a lot less space than you have here on the trike.

Agreed! I have the airhorn version a couple of my bikes, and those things are LOUD! The Ryker's free space under the hood is tighter than it looks. I'm sure that another horn could be mounted further back in the engine compartment, but the OEM location has very little clearance under the hood cover... the SoundBomb Mini only fits when it's bent downward. 👍 --QM

@@QuasiMotard wasn't knocking what you had done...it's a lot better than the original...but the Airhorn is even better....you'd be surprised what little space you can fit them into as the compressor is a separate unit....I fit one inside the front upper corner of fairing on a 2005 VFR800...just fit ...can't tell it's there till you hear it ... but give it a tap and it gets everyone's attention immediately.... anyhoo nice job on what you did it was clean and quick and waaaaay better than OEM.

Yessir, I like those Denali SoundBomb's. I have the airhorn version on several of my bikes, and at least the mini electromagnetic on all of the others. The OEM horn on the Ryker is pathetic... even my Honda PCX 150 OEM horn sounded louder. Technically speaking, I may be riding a tricycle, but I don't want it to sound like one! ;-) --QM

It's very loud, and it definitely helps with inattentive cagers. I don't think there has been a single incident when I used the horn and the other motorist DIDN'T hear me. They always jerk back into their lane and then continue texting on their cell phones like nothing happened. 🤣 Cheers! --QM
