I love your hair so much Rylee! It’s amazing how good you are doing with your t1d. I have a chronic illness as well, and it took me like 2 years to get things under control. I also agree that it’s hard mentally some days, it really hits me when I see people doing things that I can’t/should do like eating certain things like you said. Love you!

Rylee, what a special young lady that you’ve become. By the grace of God you can live out a fully fantastic life. My little sister was diagnosed with type one childhood diabetes when she was very young. Today she is a mother of Five and lives a beautiful life with the help of family, friends and most importantly her relationship with Christ Jesus our savior. You keep strong and happy. You deserve the best. Helping younger people maybe a calling, a calling from God. This is special. You are special! Never forget this! So proud of you Rylee. The world isI praying for you. Be strong, chin up ⬆️ Have the most beautiful holiday season. 🌲❤️🙏🏻♥️

I have been type 1 diabetic for almost 40 years. I love my Omnipod and Dexcom and you can set it to different amounts for when you dance etc. Once on the pump you stop using the lantus. Also, when your blood sugar starts to drop you can stop the pump from giving you insulin for a certain amount of time to stop low blood sugars. I fought getting pump for years but now wouldn't go back!

I was 22 y.o. almost 23 when diagnosed with t1d around a month ago in the middle of university, as Rylee said you put a lot of work but it is not showing because your body cannot get enough glucose due to lack of insulin that happened to me in the middle of exams, it is hard in the beginning as it appears to me but every hardship in this world can be overcome with courage. Stay strong everyone

My boyfriend was diagnosed with diabetes when he was six, and now he's 18 and we've been together for almost three years. The most important things that I learned were how his mood is effected by his bloody sugar, how to administer his emergency glucose shot, and how to take care of his Ketones if they're high (and the warning signs for high ketones). I've checked his sugar before, and I also help him to pack his diabetes snacks. Also, my boyfriend has a pump (I think it's one of the newest medtronic models) and it's super sturdy and he likes it because he doesn't have to pack the syringes and have to inject himself with every meal because his insulin is literally on his person at all times. and one sight every three days was better than a needle every meal/snack.

Hi. There is an insulin pump that is just a small pod on the skin and a wireless controller. It is called the OmniPod. While pumping, you are getting constant doses of Humalog or Novolog. Those doses are called basal insulin, and they replace your Lantus shot. The cool thing about the pump is that you can change your basal based on your blood sugar. I would recommend Think Like a Pancreas by Gary Scheiner. The book explains things really well and was written by a t1d.

Please ask your Dad to research other long acting insulins like tresiba or levimer .Lantus was one of the first long acting and has been much improved. Pumping or injections both get insulin into you. Injections don't malfunction in ways that having a pump site can... It's a different type of planning and expense. Read the book Sugar surfing, it's a cool book about using a Dexcom cgm. Shots can be just as good, don't let anyone tell ya different. Do what works for you it's all options and your active lifestyle there are advantages to shots. BTW you can wear Dexcom anywhere, I love my forearm or in front of my armpit, it never gets bumped. My question for you have you decorated your transmitter if it's visible I use nail stickers and add some glam.

I definitely felt this. I’m a T2 diabetic and chose the shots over a pump because I knew that my insurance would cover the supplies to do shots more than the pump and supplies that go with it, but I’m a year in and completely burnt out. Even checking my blood sugar without a Dexcom is burning me out 😩 especially when a shot and BG check needs to be done every two hours. I’m thinking about switching because I feel like it would be worth the extra cost out-of-pocket.

I cry a lot because of it and it sucks my friends aren’t really here for me, but hopefully as they understand it more they start to realize it’s actually not funny and my life sucks. Oh and I got my period a week after being diagnosed it was my first one ever and my mom was worried because I was getting older and it wasn’t coming but we later realized it was because of my sugar levels. @sshannondaviss
@sshannondaviss 2 жыл бұрын
@@alial-qasim2453 | Hi! I noticed that Kendra has not responded, and I am a T2 diabetic so I thought that I would share my experience with you to give you a little bit of insight 😊 I was diagnosed with T2D at the age of 17. I had all of the symptoms, ESPECIALLY excessive thirst and frequent urination. I had been battling chronic fatigue for months as I had been living with undiagnosed diabetes, and it wasn’t until a week prior to my diagnosis that I realized something was truly wrong within my body. I became very thirsty, all of the time, and CRAVED iced water. I began drinking gallons of water each day, and then urinating 15+ times per night. I was sleeping 14-16 hours a day because I had felt so tired and sick, and actually thought it was food poisoning for awhile. I also dealt with reoccurring chronic yeast infections that were due to my body fighting hyperglycemia for so long. I then noticed one morning as I was grocery shopping that I could not read any of the signs in each aisle. My vision was blurring and I had no energy to even walk in the store, so I went home and took a nap that unintentionally lasted 6 hours. When I woke up, I only felt worse and told my mother (she is a diabetic) so she insisted that I check my blood sugar with her glucose meter. I didn’t follow the proper steps for testing, as I just pricked my finger without using an alcohol prep pad, so I got a reading of 514 but I thought it was incorrect because of that. So I followed the proper steps and got a reading of “HIGH” which meant that my blood sugar was 600+. I checked one more time to be sure and it said “HIGH” again, so I called 9.1.1. and went into the ER. They ran blood work and found that my blood sugar was 706, and I was in DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) which is a complication within diabetes that, in short words, begins to turn your blood into acid and then can potentially put someone into a diabetic coma if not treated. Since I was only 17 years old, they told me that they did not have the doctors needed to treat me so they rushed me to a children’s hospital in Ohio (from Michigan), where they had a pediatric endocrinologist ready to treat me. There is where they admitted me for a few days and diagnosed me with T2D. There is a lot of misconceptions around T2D, and although every person is different - I was immediately put on insulin injections and other medication. I am one year into my diagnosis now, and will soon be switched over to a pump to make living with diabetes a bit easier. T2 diabetics may also have the same management plan as a T1 diabetic, which is something that not a lot of people know. I then found out that I have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), which is what caused me to develop diabetes so young. I found this out because my pancreas continued to produce less and less insulin over the last year, which led my doctors to think I may have been misdiagnosed as my treatment plan of insulin, Metformin, diet, and exercise was not working (because of this, my body went into DKA once again). This was alarming to my team of doctors, so I was sent to a specialist whom increased my insulin and Metformin dosage, and then found that I have PCOS which confirmed my T2D diagnosis. I also was diagnosed with hypertension, which is another chronic disease that goes hand in hand with diabetes. I’m now doing better than ever with an amazing doctor. I hope that helped you understand the disease a little bit better and gave you some extra information about life as a diabetic! 🥰

@@sshannondaviss Hi Shannon I am sorry to hear that and glad that you are now in charge of your diabetes with a good supporting team taking care of you also I’m thankful for the effort you put writing all the details and this was absolutely informative for me as a T1D also I was dealing with allergic asthma but it is not affecting me at all since I discovered what triggers it. What is really surprising is how can a T2D be quite similar to T1D in terms of symptoms and treatment besides that my diagnosis was one inch prior the age of 23 around 6 weeks ago from this comment’s date that after my diagnosis I took couple of months break from university then started searching for a solution to help me living a normal life, I started reading dr. Bernstein diabetes solution (audible version) and searching about the ketogenic diet simultaneously distracting myself a bit which was not a good idea as I ended up following low carbs diet which is the best choice for me at the moment and a big help to maintain my blood sugars in the range as the keto diet needs a trainer that looking after you and your progress…. also your story inspired me thank you from the bottom of my heart ♥️ be safe please

I bet it's boring/embarrasing to talk about, but you really are doing a HUGE service. You're going to get kids to tell their parents when they have symptoms like yours and get proper treatment, and you're showing kids with Type 1 that you can have it and be gorgeous and a dancer, and it lets them tell their friends: "You know Rylee Arnold, that really pretty dancer? She has it too!" so they don't feel "different" than other kids. Good job Rylee. ❤️

If your question is too personal, she simply doesn’t have to answer it. I don’t understand some people 🤦🏻 but because it isn’t too personal for me, I’ll tell you mine - 11.6% 🤫 it’s been rough but my next one is due on 12/15 so I’m hoping for a better number 🥲

Many many people wear Dexcom or other forms of CGM, not just T1D. Many athletes wear them to help their performance and also T2D wear them. You will continue to learn, 40+ years later I’m still learning. Also people think that if you are T2D, it’s because you have bad eating habits. I’m T2D and that is the furthest from the truth. Although, eating healthy helps as it does all diabetics. My T2D is genetic. All my siblings and cousins from my father side of the family have Type 2 and we are all insulin dependent. I have one nephew that is T1D. So as you see, there is a lot to learn, scientists and Drs don’t have all the answers either, but it’s important to educate others around us and each other. Sounds like you are doing well, keep up the great work of educating others. Many years ago diabetes was so taboo, but I feel Dexcom and other CGM companies changed that. Love your videos, I just found them, sister are the best aren’t they?

How about your vision?? I know right before you found out you had diabetes you had to get glasses. Vision issues is also a sign. Did your vision improve?

You need to train yourself to say they have diabetes when you see a Dexcom cause T1 and T2 wear them. I have the pump and you could wear it with a sports shirt with a pocket for your dances or they have a belt also. Or a clip that would stay on you. You could take it off during that dance and then put it back on if its going to be a while between your dances. Hope this helps with ideas.

I have Type 2 diabetes and we can have sugar too. Type 1 is autoimmune and Type 2 is genetic. Genetics and lifestyle cause type 2.

Type 2 also. It is Genetic. Grandmother had it. Father has it. His siblings have it. Now my brother and I have it too. Everyone always thinks type 2 is only lifestyle. But that’s not always the case.

@@summergirl3671 | Thank you! It’s so upsetting to see so many people not properly informed of T2D. My grandparents, both mother and father, all of my aunts, uncles, and a few cousins have T2D which then led me to my diagnosis of it at 17 years old. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome at 18 also which answered that question even more. Genetics and underlying health conditions are oftentimes a HUGE factor to developing T2D. Although lifestyle choices can and have been a reason, it is not always the case!
