I'm attempting to beat Pokemon Emerald - BUT - every time I defeat a trainer, I take their team for myself! Is it possible to become the Pokemon Champion while only using the teams from the previous trainer? Let's find out!

Rules for this challenge:
- When I beat a trainer, I must immediately steal their team.
- Pokemon from trainers must match the levels, abilities, movesets, and exact statistics of the Pokemon
- If the trainer used items, you may use the same items while using their team
- No fighting wild Pokemon to gain levels
- Must play on Set Mode
- Can re-organize the team how I see fit
This is not a Nuzlocke and battles were re-fought and save states were used. This is a challenge to determine if this is possible at all.

Try a pokemon nuzlocke with using pokemon with only 1 type i.e. no dual typed pokemons. for example, valid pokemon - Espeon,Darmanitan,Hitmonchan,Blastoise,etc invalid pokemon - Swellow, Gengar, Swampert, etc

Yup. I was actually surprised/confused that he didn't take both opponent's teams in the first video since while the two grunt situation was two separate battles, the double/tag battle is one battle against a specific team. So for me personally, it was neither tweaking nor breaking the rule.

This was an awesome video. I’d love to see you do heart gold or soul silver. The map becomes really open when you get to Morty so I’m sure you’d have a ton of good options. Funnily enough, later gens may be easier because random trainers won’t have Pokémon that are completely useless (looking at you poochyena and pelipper)

This chalenge seemed pretty tough! Congrats on getting through all the tough fight and finding out ways to get past seemingly imposible battles. That requires a big boi brain to execute plays like that, and you fortunately have a big boi brain For the next chalenge, maybe black2/white2, could be rlly fun since the trainers are pretty diverse, you can battle the elite four in any order you want, and ofc black2/white2 are top tier games overall. Ofc this is just my suggestion and it's your choice for what game you wanna do this chalenge in next. I'll be looking foward to it, keep up the great work my boi 👍

I was wondering if it’s possible to do a twist on the letterlockes, where your next Pokémon has to start with the last letter of your last Pokémon. I would love to see this same challenge in another game. My vote would be for firered/leafgreen, but any game would be interesting. I do think it would be interesting if the next time you kept track of the amount of resets for every tough fight somewere. Would be fun to get a sense of how finnicky they were

I thought about this and you’re actually correct, I could do Magma and Aqua Hideouts without beating Winona, clear out everything before T&L, then beat Winona and try the seventh gym with that team. It would be tedious without Fly but totally possible! Winona’s team is mostly under level 32, but with all 5 immune to Earthquake and a Dragon Dancing Altaria, it seems possible!

This is a complete RNG-based run but it's definitely interesting, nevertheless. You've been transparent about resetting, so, it's no issue. What I like the most is you using the Pokemon of other trainers to beat gym leaders. I like how it proves that random trainers can beat gym leaders. More of this type of run, please! Which Pokémon game do you think would be the most challenging?

Norman's Spinda spamming teeter dance is strongly appreciated by speedrunners as well. My best guess is that it doesn't count as a targeted move (since in a double battle it will confuse all combatants other than Spinda), which leads to Norman not checking the opposing pokemon's status when deciding whether to use it. Or something like that.

Zangoose is actually capable of winnning a solo run with level caps in place, even without changing natures/IVs between fights. Its stats and movepool are perfect for sweeping every fight.

Ones that might be a Challenege are... Pokemon Gold or Silver. Since the trainers and Gym leaders are pretty bad. Pokemon X or Y since many trainers and half of the gym leaders don't have 4 moves on their pokemon.

Theoretically, if you get a team with a pokemon that can either confuse, flinch, or paralyze the enemy and is faster than every pokemon on the opponent's team, you don't ever have to get a bridge team because you just reset inifinitely until you get the best rng and always confuse, flinch, or paralyze the enemy. Right?

That’s true, but since that’s the minority of teams and especially the minority of required fights, you’d usually need to FIND a team like that as a bridge team. Remember that every fight you essentially lose the team you just used, so there are only so many para/flinch/confuse teams

I think bw/bw2 are doable, also Platinum, whereas frlg could be very difficult as the casual trainers in These Games are mostly pretty weak.
