I unbox and test the Ryobi Brushless line trimmer.
I bought this unit myself and give an honest opinion. I figure out that these units are only made for righthanded use. Especially with the design of the guard, which covers one side inadequately.

Is the front handle with the wing nut meant to be loose and slide up and down the shaft, or am i missing something with mine?

Not at all, mine is tight and locked in place. Possibly the bolt is cross-threaded and worth checking.

Hi - just got mine & had the same problem, til I realised the non-hole end of the underside bracket has to slide into the slot on the plastic top cover before attaching the wing nut & tightening. Hope that helps.

Can you review the 18V HP Brushless 26CM Brush Cutter with string or TriArc cutting disc. It has the harness and the bike handlebar style controls.

Just used mine for the first time yesterday, first impressions is the power is crazy good for being only 18 volts. Powered through thick edges and some huge weeds with no issues. So much easier and nicer to use than my old petrol honda whip. Don't know why I waited so long. Next up will be a battery mower.

Came here lookong for what the metal swivel does 😂. Just bought one. Works a treat, but the guard snapped off on first go. Back to bunnings for a replacement

Yeah, it's not that bad to hold, just a bit sour with the guard only protecting one side.

Where does the speed winder go? I have the same unit..

The speed winder goes on the greenish 'push-to-feed' button on the trimmer head, but only while you're feeding new trimmer line into it. It's not a permanent fitting.

It's brilliant. I'd suggest a 6amp hour battery, I find the 4ah gets pretty warm, which would shorten its life. It's not terrible by any means, but the less heat the better for batteries.

No worries. No, Expandit is their buzzword for having multiple attachments. You can get a pole saw and a couple of other things for it.

Thanks for the review. Got mine yesterday from Bunnings. Yes, it's raining here too in Brisbane, been on and off since before Christmas. Got the trimmer, just need the grass to dry out to use it. You said the other holes in the pole were for different directions for positioning. When would you use that? I'm mainly using mine under fencelines and shrubs, around a garden bed and trees and along external walls as I have a Ryobi Edger (definitely recommend) for the driveway and near the patio. PS love the dog.

No worries! I'm just north of Brisbane so same weather 😅 The other holes could be for edging I guess, haven't actually tried them yet. I'm use to just turning the machine over for edging so that's what I do with it. All the best with it!

I must admit, it doesn't make a huge difference because it's so light, but it could be better, that's for sure.

No worries. No that shoulder strap I just borrowed from a bag. There might be one available to buy, but if you've got one on a bag at home, just use that, as long as it's adjustable. The unit is fairly light, so try it without, you may not need one. There's no official point to attach it to, so experiment with placement using a zip tie or two. For a more permanent solution you could use a pipe bracket from the plumbing section at Bunnings.

How long does the. Battery last ?

Around 20 minutes in that heavy grass. My dad has the same one and gets around an hour trimming his 3/4 acre block. So it really depends on load. I would recommend a 6 or 9AH battery which I haven't bought yet.

Thanks for your constructive feedback. But look at the guard that is meant to stop you getting hit by debris. It only sticks out one side. So using it as a leftie, I get hit with an endless steam of grass and crap to the shins. It's not a deal breaker, albeit a slight annoyance that could have not existed if they just centred the guard.

The bottom guard is not even covering the cord wtf.. I have the older model and the bottom guard sits on top over the system to stop the grass from flicking up etc.. Ps I’m a lefty also lol
