I have two of these ... the 8mm left hand thread string heads for the older Kawasaki gas trimmers work great with these battery trimmers, they are tap an go and can be used with two lines or 1 line. The heads are balanced so there's no vibration when used with 1 line, which is more desirable. With 1 line trimming you're still trimming 15 to 17 inches ... one line cuts just as fast in 95% of the trim jobs. Now, I also use the Shakespear .065 "ugly line" instead of the .080 line. The Kawasaki heads are from Hal Verble are are known as VP35 heads with the 8mm left handed female adapter. If you've owned an older ECHO like a SRM-2100 that's the same string head with a different adapter ... and by the way you can buy the 8mm adapter from Rotary Corp as they sell the VP35 heads an accessories and convert a old string head. Was in the business over 50+ years and weed trimmers were my favorite thing to sell and work with. If you don't want to change string heads, you can still use the Shakespear .065 Ugly Line in the factory head ... set the power switch to "low" and it will perform great ... and run longer. My trimmer, coupled to the VP35 head, .065 line, running on the low power setting will do the normal trimming (think city yard work) will go about 25 minutes on a 4 amp battery, about 35 minutes with the 6 amp battery. Hope this helps.

That weed that just falls over at 2:44 is one of the toughest weeds to cut. Our gas commercial trimmer struggles with those. Don't know what it is but it's tough. I like that last part and this came to mind, "Did I mention a tank is a tank, sold", LOL.

I really need your advice since you're the only person I know that has had this trimmer and the 40270 which should I get should I delve into the 40 volt platform and get 40270 and a blower or since I have a lot of 18 volt batteries get this trimmer

Will switching the HIGH-LOW slide switch to LOW save battery life?

Oh yeah, give you about 8 more minutes w/.080 line. I found with my model like this that the .065 trimmer line works in the head, and will give you close to 22 minutes running on low, take two 4 amp batteries to do my yard. Am going to get a 9 am battey this Spring, I think it will do the whole job.

Also using .065 trimmer line like the Shakespear .065 Ugly line will wake up the trimmer an fell stringer, the smaller line reduces drag and cuts great.

Yes it will low power means less battery power, high setting means the motor is sucking more power from the battery

Thats why even tough I have both 18V and 40v batteries I would never buy a battery powered weed eater or brush cutter.

@@Crickle12 They are not powerful enough for me. They struggle especially in tall grasses which I have in my yard towards the back. I also do my sisters yard since her husband passed away 2 yrs ago

@@maggarlion well you're the minority. i would say most people doing their lawns have normal grass, which these will eat through.

@@Crickle12 Agreed but not for me. On Saturday last I had to help out my neighbor. He broke his hand on the job and can’t maintain his lawn for now. I ask him if I can help. He has helped me in the past. The grass had grown up to almost a foot in sections of his lawn. My echo 2620T just breezed through. By the way I have a black and decker 40v weed eater which I used periodically on light grass and weeds.
