RYOBI: How to maintain a Wet & Dry Vacuum

I was given one of these that was used without a filter, it was clogged with dust and wasn't sucking properly. Turned out the exhaust filter near the top of the motor was clogged with pet hair and dust. I pulled it out cleaned it and it works well now. The impeller (located under the black basket thing that holds the filter) has a bit of dust and crap in it but once i get the new filters (the ones shown here and a new exhaust filter) i'll clean it out properly and put it to good use. The amount of dust in the one i got amazed me that it didnt just die.

The BAG should be used to dry vacuum this will help stop the filter from blocking up. Use the sponge filter when vacuuming wet things.

So the point of the vacuum is partly to prevent breathing particles/fibres etc...then he brushes it all off the filter with a paint brush and breathes it right in. Nice.

If you're trying to be that careful about inhaling stuff, you would need to wear a mask with filter all day on the jobsite to be safe.

@@NzRasengan You don't need to be so sarcastic. I am always very careful while cleaning a vacuum machine from dust. I try not to agitate it too much to let the dust pollute the environment not to mention my lungs. Otherwise, as the the person mentioned before, there is no point to use it.

My Ryobe shop vac came with a orange filter cover and a dust collection bag, should both be used at the same time?

Annoyingly, this video suggests it doesn't need it. Just purchased it and the manaul says it must be used. I was really hoping to not go through heaps of bags by using this model.

I wonder how well the motor is protected from direct water contact? I am still a little concerned about it. What happens if it overfills with water? Is the electric fully protected?

Some drops can get in but usually the fan and the motor are separated

Manual says there is no float valve to shut off, but to listen to the motor picking up in volume. Sounds like it will be fine

That was dumb ryobi , not considering your neighbors and not thinking about safety for wearing a mask A better way would be to get another ryobii vacuum to clean it .a ryobi cordless vacuum maybe ?
