Very nice tool for the money. I bought the tool+battery+charger for $99 at Home Depot. It cleared a sink line when all else had failed. Went from standing water to fast drain. Took very little time to complete. Thumbs up.

Plumber charged me $350 to clear kitchen sink. I bought the One +, under $100, I had batteries, so far I have used the Augar four time on the kitchen sink the last two years. Do the math, it is well worth the effort and expense.

Used mine once down a tub , wasn't sure how far out I went but it stopped reverse-feeding and had to push it back in the drum by hans. Now there is an inch of what looks like thick fishing line protruding out. Paid for itself though if it never works again.

You could always try wrapping a little brightly colored electrical tape on the cable right before the end of it to tell you when it's fully extended. I haven't done so myself, so I don't know if it would hold up or not (or possibly even jam it - I'm not sure!)

I just used this on my neighbors toilet that got clogged up from all the Thanksgiving traffic. It worked great, and you don't have to worry about marking up the porcelain. I just pulled out about 4 ft of snake and worked it back through the toilet by hand, and then started spinning the auger while holding the cable with a gloved hand to keep it from hitting the porcelain...not a mark

It doesn't seem to have a manual control, incase the battery dies. I think I might go for the rigid one, because it has both, and costs close to the same price.

Standard drain cleaning line cut and put into a combi drill does the job
@stinkycheese804
@stinkycheese804 5 жыл бұрын
Not really, unless the clog is very close to the drain, or you have a helper feeding it in at the drain while you're far back which is clumsy. If you're going to be clumsy and slow then you don't even need a drill, can just put a bird on a hamster wheel spinning it like Fred Flintstone would do.

Doresoom Reviews The Clog Is Completely Cleared. Tub And Bathroom Sink. The Difficult Part Is Retracting The Snake. That Is Where I Am At, Now. (Bathroom Sink, To Be Exact.) I Have Been Applying Myself, For An Extended Period. The Drain Auger Does Not Appear To Have Enough Power.
@DoresoomReviews

You might have to help the auger pull the cable back in by stopping rotation and grabbing and pulling the cable a foot at a time, then turning on rotation again to let it feed into the drum. I usually didn't need to do that, but occasionally there was too much tension for the auto retract mechanism.

No, this one is brushed - I think it's been in the One+ lineup since before brushless tools really existed. They do have a newer one that's hybrid power and twice the cost (still brushed motor though), but this one has held up fine for the few times I need it per year.

Stuart over at ToolGuyd wrote a few articles about the P194 earlier this year, but unfortunately I don't know anything about the planned release date. The new 6Ah is also pictured in the new brushless circular saw's listing on Home Depot's website, but not available for sale yet. There's lots of circumstantial evidence, but nothing officially confirmed from Ryobi. I also posted on Instagram this week about how the new brushless tools have extra battery terminals that the current Ryobi One+ batteries don't have: instagram.com/p/BbXbFHdl7HR/?taken-by=doresoom

Did you ever figure out the sewer smell I’m thinking about trying this to see if I have a problem in the vents too
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 5 жыл бұрын
I never did figure out the exact cause, but i think it had to do with that sagging vent line. After I straightened it out with the proper slope the smell went away, and I only ever got a few whiffs of the same smell ever again in that room. I sold that house a few months ago, so I guess I'll never know for sure!

Did you consider feeding it through the toilet before using the motor
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 6 жыл бұрын
That would probably reduce the risk of it marking up the porcelain, but the cable could still whip against the bowl. An actual toilet auger usually has a protective rubber cover to eliminate the chance of marking up the toilet.
@corey2justified1
@corey2justified1 6 жыл бұрын
Doresoom Reviews have you ever actually seen a real toilet auger? None of the ones I've seen have had this coating, rubber also very easily makes marks on porceli, I have a porcelain tub and a shower chair which has rubber feet. Every week I have to scrub the feet marks it leaves on the tub and the shower chair barely moves. Can't imagine what this would do to porcelain if it was rubber. I think what you are thinking about is an anti rust coating
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 6 жыл бұрын
Every toilet auger I've ever seen has a silicone, rubber, or plastic protective elbow around the spot where the cable enters the drain. I wasn't saying the whole cable would be covered. Example (the orange elbow part): goo.gl/images/sa8298

Thanks! I mentioned the new version near the end of the video - I'm just scratching my head over the $150 price tag the new one comes with. That's beyond the scope of tools I've used and getting into professional plumber territory. I know Ridgid is one of the industry leaders for corded plumbing snakes, and Milwaukee makes some good cordless models.
@chevy5137
@chevy5137 7 жыл бұрын
Go for the Milwaukee Cordless M18 Fuel Brushless drain snake auger that's what I got and I nicknamed it the BEAST! Milwaukee was generous enough to send me one out back in November 2017 when they first released for free to put thru it's paces and review for them in exchange for the unit and they sent me the biggest baddest kit they have which was really cool of them and it includes the drain snake a carry bucket that the unit sits in with a tray that goes on top that holds the included a 5.0amp battery and charger, it also comes with two 35 feet cables one 1/4" one and one 3/8" one that has 4 interchangeable heads, do note it will take cables up to 50 feet long. It is an expensive unit but the features on it are unbeatable and in my opinion there is not another handheld drain snake auger on the market better than it right now corded or cordless. I have rental units and have to do drain maintenance fairly often and I have done well over two dozen drain jobs with it now from fully clogged drains to slow running drains and I have yet to come across a job it can't take care of. It is an expensive unit but where I have used it so much it has paid for itself 4 times over by now! But if you are a homeowner and won't be using your drain snake often then this Ryobi is probably the best way to go for you because of the price point.

Cruzillo626 H Oh yeah I did get a little carried away talking about the Milwaukee M18 Fuel Drain Snake Kit probably because I just got one for free so I was and still am beyond stoked that I was able to get such a professional tool for free but what I was trying to point out by that is that TTI owns Milwaukee, Ridgid and Ryobi and their DIY brand and what I was trying to say is that a lot of the technology from the extremely professional Milwaukee M18 Fuel Drain Snake probably trickled down into the Ryobi drain snake giving it good features and making it a nice tool and that yes my Milwaukee M18 Fuel Drain Snake is for professionals and most people aren't going to need to go buy something that expensive or professional so if you are a homeowner then go buy this Ryobi drain snake cuz your getting a huge bang for your buck and at the price point it's at you'll save money the first time you use it instead of having to call someone to come do it.

The box says not returnable due to the potential for sewage contact with the product due to the nature of the tool. If you didn't use it, Home Depot should take it back. If they give you problems at the return desk, ask for a manager and explain. If that doesn't work, Ryobi should still honor the warranty.
