nice you are reviewing tools i am looking at. I hoped you would use the chisel bit on the rock. I need to to holes in my cinder block basement walls to build a pressure relief/waterproofing system. I am thinking of using the ryobi 40v auger you reviewed for helping dig a trench for 14 inch pipe exterior drain system.

Glad I could help! My chisel bit is for SDS Max and even with that (6.5 ft lb) was slow progress on big rock. Sorry to hear you are fighting basement water issues. I used a pre-brushless 18v hammer drill to run a 1/2 inch masonry bit through cinder block for an outside outlet at a prior house and it wasn't too bad. The SDS Plus hammer should go through block nicely. The auger has a lot of torque and the 12 inch bit knocks me around when it hits stones. I think a series of holes to dig between and create a trench would work but will be a huge effort. Even a towable backhoe isn't all that budget-friendly a trenching option these days.
