Thanks for posting! Mine also broke at the weak link at the same place. I was about to throw it away. I'll add this hack to my to-do.

Cheap fix, but I'm still using mine now 2 years later.

@@SirTools - I bookmarked this video one year ago. I'm going to try the fix today.

I've had one of these for almost 3 years and use it at least weekly... many times for 100+ cuts limbing acres of fields we mow-- have never actually used the extension. I think that bottom connection will break very quickly. In my case, the battery side is slowly splintering. I'll probably use your method to fix that battery side soon and make the PVC the entire length from the battery pack to the head. I might drill the PVC where those rivets were and put a carriage bolt through the white pipe all the way to the other side and then another one on the other side of the connection.

This is a really great Video. I have one of these pole saws. So far nothing has broken but it does leak oil a quite a bit. The electrical contacts on the saw end of the extension have badly burned and I'm not sure I can clean them up. Do you have any suggestion on cleaning them up and also preventing this from happening again. It works fine without the extension but is very intermittent at best with it in.

I have broken male collar but there is a cord that runs thru my saw. do you know how to deal with the cord so I can replace the collar?

I'm using mine. I'm thinking splice butt connectors. If there is enough wire inside to cut and re-attach afterwards...

Hi, I have this RYOBY extension chain saw model and the top (thumb press) spring-loaded switch at the battery end of the unit is broken. Can you please show me how to disassemble and reassemble the unit to fix the problem? Thank you very much in advance.

I would do a search on "youtube" for a video about tearing down one. Don't know here about the button issue.

I would put 4-6 or more bigger rivets instead of claims or additional to the clamps.

This was a thought, but figured this way it can be dis-assembled easily. First test on a tree and all good and showing no slip or issues.

That looked so rigid I would sleeve the other connection.
