And the painful part, is that when he woke up, right before he would die he saw handcuffs on his hands, that right before his death reminded him of his past... In Ryoma's Free time events he mentions he had a lover he cared about so much but unfortunately died. Notice how Monokuma says "There's no one in the _world_ who is important to you." I think it doesn't mean he didn't care for anyone at all but it's because the only person important to him...was already dead...damn that's depressing for me :'(

It's a distinction that wasn't present in the original motive videos in THH, considering Celeste's and Toko's motives were a cat and a stinkbug respectively (as revealed in UDG).

the way he says the last line is what really gets me it was almost funny to me the first time and it still is funny delivery on its own, but the way he gets less sincere with each sorry is so horribly mocking and it breaks my heart thinking of how ryoma felt having the worst thing he could hear be given to him in such a cruel way the entire cutesy presentation in general is so inappropriate and you know it was framed that way to mock him as much as possible, almost like an execution i know brian beacock had some rust with getting into his monokuma voice again for v3 but he's an absolutely phenomenal va and he always does an amazing job making monokuma an unbearably cruel and hateable villain _(an enjoyable one, but still)_

Despite my best efforts to stop any attachment from forming, Chihiro was my favorite character in the first game. He was so much like me in both personality and interest. I could relate to him and to his struggle with self esteem. He was adorable and sweet, and I loved him like my own child. When he died, I was greatly upset. His lifeless body was a sight that very well nearly brought me to tears. Yes I expected him to die just thanks to his personality, but that didn't make it hurt any less. And yet, I was intrigued. There were so many mysteries left unsolved. What was going on? Why the killing game? Who was behind it all? I wanted to find out, to see the end. So I kept going. Despite my best efforts to stop any attachment from forming, Chiaki was my favorite character in the second game. She again shared an interest with me and was a very logical character. I loved every moment she was on screen, and she made it so far that I had hope she would survive. When she died, I was not as upset as when Chihiro did, but I was still fairly upset. She was a wonderful character and seeing her execution was awful. I had once again been crushed. But I was in the home stretch now. One more chapter and I was done. And the story was still engaging. So I kept going. By the third game I had stopped trying to prevent my attachment and soon grew incredibly invested in Ryoma. He was just a wonderful character. I loved his cool and collected demeanor and just wanted to give him a hug when he revealed just how depressed he was. Everything about him was amazing. His personality, his design, his *voice*, oh goodness his voice. And what's more, he seemed like the kind of character who would survive all the way to the end, so I thought I was safe. I thought anyone I loved was safe. I was a fool. This chapter legitimately broke me. My love for Ryoma was on par with, possibly greater than my adoration for Chihiro. I thought he'd make it to chapter three at least. I thought everything would be fine for him. But he died. And I had to stop watching for a good while. I eventually made it through the trial, but it hurt. And then I stopped all together. It has been a very long time since this game's release. I have tried once or twice to continue watching, but I just couldn't. Yes I know what happens, but not from going through the whole game. Every time I look at this game past chapter two, I just think about the fact that Ryoma is dead and I can't push myself on. This death flibbing broke my will to continue on to the end. This is the only character death to ever do that to me. Well done, Spike Chunsoft.

@@kokichiouma626 well, first of all, the "V3" in the name of the game was chosen to distinguish it from the anime. and secondly... this name was chosen to show the season. literally, this game is called "danganronpa 53rd". also tsumugi said that all is fictional, even their talents and characters. 53rd season was like "special", ordinary teenagers (aka whole v3 cast, but with no talants) just accepted opportunity to take part of killing game without any hesitation, cuz people liked this show. that's why i find it a little strange to add this "V" in every game..

I know this is a year old but I wanna insert my own idea here. Considering how Korekiyo is the Ultimate Anthropologist and all that, I think he should've been used as the inspiration for Ryoma to continue living. He sees that his past attachments may be gone, but it doesn't mean he should give up. Him and Korekiyo take a liking to each other and start hanging out and stuff. That's just my idea though. I wish Spike Chunsoft actually did this. :(

Part of what makes this so emotional is the way Monokuma says it comedically like how he normally is but then he descends into feeling a little more sorrowful than after the video stops playing the sad music cues and everyone gets sad.

Ryoma and Ishimaru are almost the same but not. Ishimaru had no friends bc of his Ultimate Talent as everyone found him annoying. But during THH, he met Mondo and Chihiro and made friends. But after they both died, he didnt resist being killed. Ryoma lost his girlfriend after winning a tennis tournament. And was put in jail. These two are so simular but also not at the same time.
